If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would!! I started with the bourbon wings which were tender and flavorful. Then I... got the seafood gumbo because I saw so many regulars ordering the dish and as a seafood fan I was intrigued. I can say this isthe best seafood dish that I have ever had. The gumbo such a delicious and hearty dish. To end it off, we had the bread puddingwas a must have as a dessert. Excellent food and cocktails, but the service could be a little better. The etoufee has great flavor, the gumbo seems the same... with a lobster tail on top... I've never had gumbo that way in Louisiana, but it was tasty, if a bit thick for gumbo. The hushpuppies are the best I've had, and the crawfish and shrimp poutine fries are very good, too. Read more
We walked in last night around 9:45 and were immediately greeted warmly and shown to a table. The crawfish fries were AMAZING.... We also loved the alligator and beef sliders. Drinks are large and have fun garnishes. Everyone there was incredibly friendlyand the service was fantastic. Great, fun ambience. Highly recommend! Read more
The atmosphere is pretty cool. I got there today when it first opened. The bartending staff was very nice. The menu is pretty... limited. The dishes were pretty pricey. I ordered the etoufee to go. It took 40 minutes for it to come out. While I waited thebartended offered me some hush puppies. The hush puppies were really good. I got home and plated the etoufee. The shrimp werereally big, but was only given 3. Both the chicken and the shrimp had a lot of flavor. The overall dish was a 4 out of 5. Iwill probably come back at some point. I would say if you’re going to try it, be ready to spend some money and be willing towait for your food. Read more
I really wanted to like this place. I literally just walked out. I don’t know if they thought my friend and I didn’t have... money, but we literally watched everyone surrounding us be served their drinks and food, without us receiving anything. Ourreservation was for 7:45 pm and when we left at 8:56 pm, we still didn’t even get offered the glass bottle of water all of theother tables had. We were literally the only table who did not receive water. We are both 2 very successful women. We may lookyoung and may have been in our more relaxed clothes, but my friend is a successful business owner and I am very, VERY successfulin my profession, so we should not have been judged, and not served, based on our relaxed appearance. You don’t and won’talways know the background of those who walk into your establishment. I came prepared to order and donate (upon leaving afterbeing served) to a black-owned establishment and the lack of service we received was disheartening. We did, however, receivehush puppies (which were tasty) while we waited for our water, drinks and food, but, they did not give us serving plates toplace the hush puppies on. We asked for water several times, and a waiter (not our waiter) brought out ONE glass of water,seeing that there were TWO of us, and gave my friend an open drawer out the palm of his hand. This is one of the worstexperiences that I ever had with a Black establishment. This truly saddens me. People, save your money and go to anestablishment that treats everyone with respect and demonstrates it by providing quality and timely service. Read more
I have been to Essies twice. Both times I enjoyed my myself. The food was great and so was the long islands lol.. we had the... same waitress, Jessica. She was amazing. I will definitely be back and I will request Jessica again. Read more
I love love love this place!!! The food was excellent. The server was amazing. What I truly was impressed by was as soon as the... server came to us, she asked if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions off the bat. Being a person with so many allergies,I really appreciated this. It can be so annoying and frustrating to keep asking what's in everything. All the staff is friendlyand accommodating. I haven't been to a restaurant in so long that checked all the boxes and exceeded my expectations. If I onlyhad one critique is that they should dim the lights just a little. Other than that.
