I've been here four times since the recent "refresh / reopening". I've seen some of the other reviews that complained about... slow service, but I never had an issue. In fact my server on two occasions was Rachel, and she was excellent! The drinks arevery well made (espresso martini, for example) and the food has been very good -- I really have enjoyed the Guiness Beef Stew. This is a solid local choice in Clifton, I recommend it Read more

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Friends and Family soft re-opening of The Shannon Rose Irish Pub in Clifton, New... Jersey after a major remodel. This place was gorgeous. Visually it was downright stunning but as usual, I am here to focus onthe food and beverage portion...which was definitely something that stood on it's own. Started the night off with a nice MoscowMule, maybe not a beverage that screams Irish Pub, but it sounded refreshing and I followed my gut. I'm very happy I did, thiswas one tasty beverage. My girlfriend got herself a "Shannon Rose" which is made with Rose Gin and vanilla and this was alsoquite tasty (yes maybe I stole a sip or two) Started off the food portion with some butlered hors d'oeuvres that consisted ofthings like Cheeseburger Sliders, Battered Shrimp with Sriracha Aioli, Bacon and Cheddar Boxty, and Corned Beef Egg Rolls. Iwill let the photos do the speaking for these but I will say that all of these items were downright excellent. I almost passedon the sliders thinking "eh, I can have a burger anywhere"...and I'm so happy I didn't. We soon settled into a booth and hadsome more drinks including trying the "Sagamore Rye Cocktail" and an "Irish Old Fashioned" before getting into some of the maincourse items for the night. The main courses included a variety of pizza's, Shepherd's Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, Cavatappi PestoPasta, and last but not least - The Murder Burger! All of these items were very good but this Murder Burger really caught myattention! The took a burger patty with lettuce, tomato, pickles, sautéed onions, jalapenos, American cheese, and ThousandIsland Dressing and then they battered the entire thing and deep fried it! I hadn't tried anything like this before. It wasdefinitely a bit greasy but the flavor was excellent. I would order this again any day of the week. Closed out the meal bytrying out some Irish Soda Bread Pudding and a Ghirardelli Brownie and washed it down with a true Iri Read more

Came with a large party, server was friendly and accommodating with splitting bills however the service was incredibly slow.... Like empty glasses for extended period of time while waiting for the food. My burger did come out cold. However, the food wastasty. The pretzel app loaded! Yum . The chicken Caesar wrap was basic. The kale and spinach burger was homemade and delicious.Adult beverages were expensive (think chic bar prices) Read more

This place gets 2 stars, only for ambiance and presentation of food. We came as a group of 6 at 3:30pm on a Friday and was... seated very quickly. That was the extent of the good service. Our waitress was very nice, but must've been new and in over herhead. There was also a second waiter that came and was kind of there lingering around and took two of the six orders whichconfused us and complicated things for the initial waitress. We ordered off the happy hour menu, and the drinks came out after25 minutes and were good. I got the blueberry mojito and the strawberry mule. I ordered a chicken salad without dressing and itcame with the dressing mixed in, and I told the waitress but ate it anyway. She was nice and apologized. When the checks came, the drinks were charged at full price for me and several others at the table. The waitress needed help from the manager to fixit and this process to over 30 minutes. We requested to see him, he came and gave a dry apology then left. I got my check thesecond time and it said -$5 discount which still didn't amount to the overcharge. After another 10 minutes of waiting, I offeredto pay in cash the amount I owed. I requested to speak with the manager again. He was arrogant and also seemed in over his head.He said some of the menu items were new, which was the reason the checks came out incorrect. In addition, two food orders at ourtable never came out because the waitress didn't put them in the computer! Imagine waiting 45 minutes for a chicken sandwich tolearn that the order wasn't placed when the rest of your friends food comes out. After I told the manager about our experienceand the wait time (the restaurant was not at all full), he said that he'd comp my bill because that seems like the only way I'llleave happy. That wasn't at all the case, I had my cash out ready to pay. I wasn't trying to get a free meal. I wanted thepricing corrected and I told him that. I think he realized that I wasn't going to let him try and Read more

This was only the 2nd time coming to this location. 1st time was a long time ago, so I can't remember what my impressions... were. Due to Saint Paddy's, we wanted Irish ;) The service was a little slow. The waiter seemed to be trying to deal with allhis tables at the same time. So, he was bringing take out boxes while bringing our drinks. Or bringing our food with the billof another table, so of course we're waiting anxiously for our food while he dealt with the other table giving them theirbill... He forgot my soup but as long as it wasn't on the bill it didn't bother me. Deviled Scotch Eggs were amazing! Wish itwas always on the menu. Shepard's Pie was good, not too salty. There was more potato than meat, though. Irish Stout Lamb wasvery good. I don't usually like lamb due to the gameyness, but this lamb did not have any. I prefer the Ramsey locationbetter... We visited the Shannon Rose Irish Pub in Clifton a few weeks ago and had a great time. Let's start at the beginning, parking is... somewhat limited these days with the required tenting for outdoor seating but still plentiful in our opinion. We opted fordinning indoors and felt completely at home. Very clean with the feeling of being in what we imagined an actual pub in Irelandwould be like. Lot's of dark rich wood décor and lighting bright enough to see but subdued enough to fell comfortable. Westarted out with a plate of Nachos which was loaded with meat, cheese and sliced Jalapeno peppers and the chips remained crispand able to scoop and hold the toppings. Next we asked for naked (plain) wings which came out hot and crispy just as we likethem with the sauce on the side so we could each determine our perfect level of heat. Bangers and mash was excellent and camewith spinach sautéed in garlic and oil. The ribeye steak was as expected for a non steakhouse but enjoyed it just the same. The service was fast, friendly and above the norm these days. A great selection of beers and ciders also made the trip worthit. Even a surprise visit from the manager who inquired how everything was and actually seemed interested in our answers. Wetalked for a while and left knowing we would be back again soon. Well worth the trip! Read more
