I’ll be honest and say that my review is solely based on the take out experience. For people on the Colchester/Salem area,... Toyo is our favorite sushi/hibachi takeout place. I’d say we get a great value/quality here. The hibachi takeout is impressiveas well, just without the show and wait. We also really enjoy the Pad Thai and other noodle dishes. The service at this restaurant is the worst we have ever experienced. We made reservations for a large party. Half of the party... was less than 10 minutes late due to severe thunderstorms in the area. The hostess sat half the party and told the other halfthat we wouldn’t be able to sit with them because of being late. The waitress was horrible - took some of our drink orders andthen we had to call her back for the rest. The soup was lukewarm and the salad was swimming in dressing. The hibachi chef wasvery good - especially with the children in our party. As we were eating, the waitress asked if I wanted a box and thenproceeded to take my plate away even though I was still eating. Pleasant atmosphere, the hibachi grill is always great. The food and service I've always had here have always been very good.
Overall the food was okay at best, cleanliness of the restaurant was okay at best, the major downside to our visit was at... checkout. We had a $100 gift card that was roughly 4 years old (it was given as a house warming from our realtor). We presentedthe gift card with the associated receipt showing the date of purchase, amount, and the number of the gift card. The managercame to us and said the card had already been used in the amount of $50 leaving only $50 remaining. I asked for the date it wasused, she went back to check on that and came back with a different story. This time she said the gift card was only purchasedfor $50 and not the $100 that is listed on the receipt with the matching gift card number. Long story a bit shorter….the cardwas clearly a $100 card, it was old and they chose not to honor it for the full value. We paid the balance and left. Gift cardissue aside, we would never have returned, however it’s because of the gift card this review is being written. Supposedly itwas the owner who made the decision and told the manager how to deal with the gift card. Shame on you, terrible managementdecision, you certainly lost us forever, hopefully you lose a few more customers as well because of this post. Read more
Decent experience. Not the best Hibachi I have had but not the worst. The veggies were a little under cooked and I had to... explain my dinner request multiple times to the team but it came out correctly. I will try it again and update if better. Read more
This was a great hibachi experience. The chef even took extra time and attention to make our friends 1 year old enjoy himself... more with a kazoo and a blow up balloon. The food was excellent and the price was reasonable for the experience and quality.Only suggestion is to fix/upgrade Air-conditioning as it was quite uncomfortable Inside but in the restaraunts defense, todaywas a very hot day. This place is amazing. It was my first date night spot at the hibachi grill and of course that is always fun. The sauce used for... the hibachi is so amazing I crave it all the time. They have the best ginger dressing for their salads I'm obsessed with it. Thesushi is so big and fresh. Read more
