Thursday date night with my husband was so much fun. This was our second time coming and it didn’t disappoint. The food,... drinks and atmosphere was great. We were immediately taken in by the... high-class decor and ambiance of the restaurant — we’re excited to see something like this in our city. I had a nice time with my family at Smoked! The oysters were some of the best I've ever had and similar opinion on the old... fashioned! The atmosphere is lovely and the front of house and servers are very friendly (Hayley was great!). There was livemusic playing in the front and the overall aesthetic was impressive to say the least. Now on to business: Right off the bat Ifound myself comparing this place to Halls and while the prices were similar the vibe was much different! Our party of 6 wasseated at a large rectangular table which made it hard for the entire party to interact with each other — 6-8 people should beseated at a round table. It does seem like there is effort being put in to make this a fine dining restaurant and I'd say it'sabout 70% of the way there which explains some of the bad reviews — I think if a little more time is put into training therewill be a HUGE difference in the quality of service received taking you from an upscale dinner to a fine diningexperience! Another note: cream corn — one of my favorite sides wherever I go left me wanting for more... more salt, morecorn, more time in the oven, and less crab. Final thoughts: I'm leaving 5 stars because these bad reviews have potential tokill possibilities for the potential I see out of this restaurant and we all know Columbia needs this place. At this point Iwould still absolutely recommend visiting this spot; however, before you do, adjust your expectations, do not go in comparingSmoked to Halls, don't order the chicken dish or the cream corn, and DO absolutely 100% order the oysters... even if you don'tlike oysters... order the oysters. We visited smoked last night for he first time for Valentine’s Day. We were excited due to all of the buzz around this new hot... spot. Here is my honest review. Everything except the drinks lacked quality. We started with the seafood dip. That was basicallycream cheese and 2 small pieces of shrimp. My husband’s steak was tough and lacked flavor. My oyster ravioli was amazing ontemperature. We frequent Halls chophouse and may other local hot spots in Columbia a lot so we are use to quality ingredients.The truffle mashed potatoes tasted like box mash potatoes. But the drinks were amazing! The smoked Old fashion and the in-housebrewed beers were great! But we will not be repeat customers. For the price, you get a way better meal at Colas or Halls chophouse. Held a surprise birthday party here for my husband and 20 of our friends! The staff was incredible! The food was wonderful! I... highly recommend the ribeye flight and the lamb ribs! The smoked old fashioned is a must! The bartenders are friendly andentertaining! Beautiful decor that feels like you are stepping into a scene from the Great Gatsby! We will definitely be back!
