Step right into the past at Zaharakos. The icecream is amazing, but you can also get a burger. I wanted to have lunch before I... came here for icecream, and to my pleasant surprise I saw that they have food here. The food is ok, but what you are really herefor is the sweets. They have a good variety, including shareable. Not a lot of icecream flavors, but just the right amount. Onceyour are done with your treat, your can walk around and look at their amazing collection of classic soda machines and old schoolmusic boxes; which still work by the way (music boxes that is). You can also buy souvenirs to remember your visit. The staff wasvery young so expect to be patient. Hours of operation are limited so check them before you go. Such a Neat place to get not only Ice cream but even Dinner. Our Service was Fabulous we were seated and served within no time... of getting there ! I take great pride in reccomending this restaurant to anyone who has never been. I have been going to Zaharakos at Christmas... since I was a little girl and have now made it a tradition with my family. Today we went as a party of 10. One new comer. Whilewaiting to be seated we we watched a girl at the soda fountain dippin ice cream her hair was down and every time she dipped herhair went in. We were attended to quickly after we were seated. We had a long wait on food but we were not complaining. Whenthe food arrived, everything was cold. Sandwiches, fries and chicken tenders. There was a hair in a small cup of ranchdressing. No big deal, things happen. Then when we ordered the traditional ice cream sundaes, they came with the sauce in thebottom of the dish (maybe a spoonful) and not the traditional gravy boats we are accustomed too. The dip of strawberry mydaughter received had a big long hair in it. I do want to mention that it was 2pm and they were not busy. All of this for 189.00with the a 29.00 gratuity. They only thing we really got out of this tradition was pictures. Minus the Santa and Snowman bythe kids table. I have never left a review for anything ever. But I look forward to a family trip there every Christmas and wehave all agreed we may need to pick a different place. Read more
Food was great no doubt, but the service was just horrible. I just moved to Indiana and had such high expectations coming to... Zaharakos since that?s what everybody?s been recommending. We were seated next to the 1908 Welte Orchestrion which was awesomebut that thing went on forever. The family that came after us was served first and we had to call somebody to tell them we?reready to order. Our server seemed like they didn?t wanna be there. The rest of the servers looked like teenagers and they werejust all over the place. We even saw somebody eating ice cream in the kitchen and found that unsanitary. When we were headingout, no staff thanked us for dining in and I just found that off. It?s a glorified shop and may have been worldclass in the pastbut my experience was just horribly disappointing.
