My wife was raised outside of Columbus and she and her family introduced me to it nearly 30 years ago. A visit to Columbus is... not complete without a trip there. My daughters love it, too. The service is always terrific, the atmosphere is familyoriented, the plates are simple and delicious and anything that's not fresh was designed to survive the hot, humid Mississippiweather. Go here if: you're open minded and want something that's not like every other Mexican restaurant in America, you'reinterested in authentic food, not standard American Tex-Mex, you're not picky about everything under the sun... The MexicanKitchen does things THEIR way (it's NOT glorified Taco Bell... it's REAL) and it's been good enough for the fine people ofLowndes and surrounding counties for 58 years (I can attest to having eaten there for 29 of those). If you walk in with apre-conceived notion of how everything should be based on past experiences at your local Panco Villa Restaurant, you'll be infor a disappointment. The Mexican Kitchen is unique and it is simply one of the best restaurants in Columbus (period, noqualifier needed) and Columbus has a few VERY good restaurants. And I've never seen cheesy chicken on the menu! Thankgoodness! P.S. My go-to is the medium plate. Delicious. I hope they outlast me. I love eating there when I'm in town. Read more
I've been eating there since they were over by THE W. If someone doesn't like the food it's because they have been going to the... pseudo Americanized straight out the can Mexican restaurants. I've never had a bad meal or service ,in My 58 years of existence. Read more

Food was good and the server was attentive. Final check is still a bit on the high side but not ridiculous. Bottom line, no... other restaurant in town tastes like the Mexican Kitchen or has the "atmosphere" it has. Its worth a try! Read more

This is white people food. So bland. Pricing was fair (unless you want to pay for flavor) Service was fast and great, decor is... cool i guess, but this is not up to a Mexican restaurant's standards. Read more
