A typical tavern/pub. The drinks were great, the food was just okay. Good experience
You ever really crave a type of food, anticipate it, and realize you made the wrong choice after the first bite? That was my... experience here. For the price of the food it didn?t seem that the quality matched up. I?ve had juicier and more flavorfulburgers at Wendy?s for $8 less? Burger: Seemed like a pre made frozen patty, extremely dry, 3 minuscule and overcookedmushrooms on top, and no aioli as was advertised. Fries: Dry and had that slightly burnt taste. Additionally, they forgottoppings on the side that came on another burger. I don?t know if whoever was in the kitchen that day didn?t care but I won?t bespending money on this place again. I could have gone anywhere else and gotten a better burger for the same or lesser price.Disappointing to say the least. Read more
Been coming here for years! Great hang out spot with several TVs for watching games, a well stocked bar, nice variety of food on... the menu, and reliable service. I love the Greek fries! Also convenient to find a downtown restaurant with enough parking! Read more
I love this place. Great food that fits any budget or dining preference, an extensive cocktail and beer menu with one of the... best bourbon lists in the city, and friendly/attentive/accommodating service. Add to all that one of the best views of thedowntown skyline and free parking and you have a neighborhood bar/restaurant that?ll keep you coming back. Highly recommended! Read more
I love this spot. Every week I?m like, ?where should I go for dinner?? And every week I?m like ?Wendy?s.? But I?m really trying... to class up my life a bit. I don?t want to be too boojy, so Spaghetti Warehouse is out (RIP), but City Tavern really cuts themustard as a great go between. Super fun staff and people hanging out. I love the atmosphere. It's definitely a chill place to go for drinks & have a snack with friends. The only reason I gave it a 3/5 is because the... service was not great the last two times I went there and the menu is misleading. Here's a breakdown of my experience: Food: Iabsolutely love that the kitchen is open until midnight! And the food really does taste amazing for being "bar food." There arehealthier options available, but I definitely recommend the fries! I'm gluten-free and I had no problem finding some great menuitems and ciders to enjoy. Service: This was my biggest issue, any time we needed something, we had to make eye contact fromacross the bar/flag down our server, who was talking to the bartender behind the counter every time. When I asked for a box formy food, the server brought it and cleared our plates, but left without asking if we were ready for the check and never cameback, so we once again had to flag them down to ask for the check. Menu: While there are great options, the descriptions weresomewhat misleading, but that could just be me. I expected the sharable peppers to be small sharable-sized peppers for a group,but they ending up being 2 very large peppers that were super messy & difficult to cut. The Buffalo chicken dip we ordered wasamazing, but it didn't come with the dipping items listed on the menu and the chips broke upon touching it, which got veryfrustrating. We came on a Thursday night, and it wasn?t too busy. They seemed to be pretty understaffed. Our server took our drink order and... we asked her to come back to order food. About 10 minutes goes by and the bartender then becomes our server and we give her ourfood orders. We later asked about our drinks that we previously ordered and the first server didn?t relay the message. So therewas a wait on the drinks for some time. When we received our food we also did not have flatware to eat and had to chase down thebartender for help because she couldn?t hear or notice us trying to get her attention. The Mac and cheese was delicious and theburger was cooked perfectly. It was good but very pricey for the value and the service that was provided. Read more
