Had this place referred as one of the best chicken in the area so decided to give it a try. Unfortunately got disappointed with... oversauced Vons Special oven type and inability to dine in, use restroom. Call the Crispy type was relatively good. Next timedefinitely something else. Read more
Tried Von's chicken tonight, got an order of the honey butter wings and the Nang-Nyum wings. The wings themselves were delicious... large, super crispy, well cooked and amazingly hot even though we had them delivered. Impressed with the packaging meant to keepthe heat and steam in! The honey butter dry dust was very disappointing. On first bite it reminded me of chicken and wings,sweet and salty. But on subsequent bites, all I could taste was artificial something, couldn't put my finger on it. I ended upscraping off as much of the dry dust as possible to try and salvage the wings underneath. Once most of the dust was gone, theywere better but that artificial flavor lingered and honestly ruined the wings. The Nang-Nyum wings were better but the sauce wasoverly sweet and lacking something to make it shine. Hoping to try one of the garlic variations next time. Definitely worthtrying, the wings themselves were amazing (and the pickled radish was a nice offset to the savory wings!), but cant recommendthe honey butter wings. Read more
Von's has drastically changed after the change of management for the worse, sauces on the chicken are thin and just pools to the... bottom of the box instead of sticking to the chicken, the new sauces aren't awful but definitely worse and not as authentic asthe original recipes from the previous management. The coleslaw wasn't anything special before but now it's soggy cabbage, thechicken mu thankfully hasn't change much but is still noticeably worse. Von's used to be my favorite restaurant in Concord andwhen I went to South Korea in 2018 Von's still held it's own against Korean fried chicken places in Seoul and Jeju so it's sadto see the place that got me addicted to Korean fried chicken and curious about Korean cuisine in general, go down in quality somuch and so quickly. It's August 2022 now and we decided to give it another chance since Mr.Lee's Chicken wasn't available, gotyangnyum drumsticks this time and the chicken was dry and the batter was soggy, also the sauce has barely any garlic in it andjust tastes under seasoned. The ssam chicken was still good and the ddubboki is in this sweet sauce which isn't typical butisn't bad. We usually ordered boneless but when management changed back when I first wrote my review, the boneless chicken wegot was mostly batter. Read more
Really tasty chicken!! We ordered boneless sweet cheddar (1/2) and crispy spicy combo (1/2). The cook on the chicken was near... perfect! The breading was just right. Flavor was fun on both the sweet cheddar and the spicy. We also tried the cheddar fries, as well as the honey butter fries. So fun! Fries were nice and crispy. The dusting of flavor was a nice, flavorful addition.Portion is huge, enough for 2+. Take out only for now still. There is also a bit of a wait (20-25 minutes) if you don’t orderahead. The Fried Chicken flavors are Amazing! I ordered there best selling "Crispy Fried Chicken" spicy style and theire Crispy Fried... Chicken with honey butter, OMG! FLAVOR, FLAVOR, FLAVOR! The original Fried chicken has a bit of heat that sits nicely in thetounge which goes well with a cold beer or beverage to quinch the heat. The Honey Butter Chicken is sweet, delicate and butterylike candy. The entire piece of chicken is good perfect down to the bone, where if you're marrow lover you'll enjoy crunchingthe end caps to get to the marrow. Finish off each pice of chicken with their milky slaw and fresh tangy pink Korean radish,your palate is fulfilled I every way possible. The only weird thing is that you have to order from the door. The dining room isclosed and the place seems to be taking rather extreme covid measures. It would be nice to sir and enjoy some beer and wingsagain there, but until then it's only take out so order ahead! Read more
What a gem packed behind the theater and ranch 99. Their spicy fried wings are perfectly spicy, hot enough to give you a loving... burn, but only keeps the lips tingling long term. Their coleslaw and pickled radish are delicious too. Just make sure you askfor help with the menu or check their helpful signs. The choice isn't your usual bone-in or boneless haha! Read more
