Outstanding sushi and service! We are traveling from Illinois and arrived at 4pm and we?re told they were booked for the... evening. After a couple minutes they squeezed us in! Our server was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and kind! Our favoriteswere the House Roll with scallops, the half and half salmon/tuna roll and BBQ Eel nigiri!!! I'm from a big city and I thought it was ridiculous to come all the way to Nfld to eat Japanese sushi...but O my...according to... the staff, the chef was self taught and trained the souchef who prepared our perfection! Who knew Corner Brook, Nfld is thesushi and sashimi capital of the World!!! Read more
Great place to have really fresh and good seafood. There unfortunately wasn't bluefin tuna today, and the sea urchin was also... unavailable. The rolls had fresh fish, but wasn't as tasty as there was too much rice and too much sauce overpowering the mainingredients of the roll. Would definitely recommend the salmon and mackerel. Great place for Asian food as the variety in CornerBrook is not that great. Read more
Our waiter was phenomenal! He was so passionate, warm, knowledgeable, and attentive! The view was exquisite as well! I loved... watching the billowing clouds phantom up over the rolling hills bursting with fall leaves. All cozily wrapped around the calmbay. Even better was the food! Foodies rejoice! Nothing you can order here would be a bad choice! We had the locally harvestedhedgehog karage mushrooms (lightly breaded/fried) which was WOW - delicious! How unique and special! I've never had hedgehogmushrooms, let alone locally-harvested ones! They were umami, meaty, crispy, and perfectly seasoned! My partner enjoyed thejellyfish 'seaweed' salad. I found it to be too chewey/tough, but then again, I'm not a huge fan of seaweed salad in the firstplace. My favorite was the chutoro, from the freshly caught bluefin tuna (the day prior). Talk about melt-in-your-mouthbuttery! Absolute bliss! It came with a generous dollop of *real* wasabi, which is hard to come by, far more delicate and floralthan the imitation. As someone who typically despises the imitation wasabi, I was surprisingly pleased with the real deal. Evenif I did have to tread suspiciously at first ???? My partner's favorite was the spicy scallop roll. Thinly sliced, tender,crispy tempura on top, creamy spicy mayo and a sweetness to it. My second favorite was the coast roll with salmon and smokedarctic char. The artic char was overpowering, yet delicious. In the future, I would use it a bit more sparingly.
