Service has fallen after Covid, tough manning it so you order at front desk. Not the fault of current employees. For what it is... is far over priced. One adult entree averages $21 after tax and tip. Kids meals are decent for $5.99 The problem with thisplaces is you have to compare it to similar price points and food.... junction 70 is cheaper, with table-side service (you donot have a waitress/waiter). The food at junction/tamarack taproom/every bar grill in st paul park is far better. This placenever recovered from Covid unfortunately it's sinking hard. Avoid it. Staff was extremely nice! Nothing at all against them. The reason for the three stars is the price vs what you get. I got the... feeling that they were trying to be a nicer sit down type of restaurant with prices that match. It's really not, one because youorder your food and then go sit down, Two the quality of the food for the price does not add up. I paid about $17 before tip fora burger and fries. Now don't get me wrong the food was pretty good for a restaurant attached to a grocery store. If the foodhad cost me like $10 to $12 this would probably be a 5 star review. We love coming to Wahlburgers for dinner as a lower cost meal. Kids love the Mac n cheese and mini burgers and of course tater... tots. I love the OFD every time and that tomato jam adds the perfect flavor to make it an amazing burger. My hubby is GF andgets his OFD wrapped in lettuce. Also got here before 6 and had half off apps. Bbq wings were big and meaty with home made bluecheese. Yum! Wait staff is helpful getting us boxes and informing of events. Bingo on Wednesday and live music on fridays. Wehave high standards on unique food in Cottage Grove and this is quality and good for our family of 5. Read more
This place just keeps getting worse and worse. Our last time coming here. Arrived Saturday morning placed our order, was told... it would be a little wait for our food because of a "function "going on. After waiting 45 minutes and seeing that not one tablehad received their orders we decided that enough was enough. We were offered a cinnamon roll for our wait, but guess what? Thattoo never arrived. We could see what was going on in the kitchen because of their short circuit TV cameras, we laughed watchingthe cooks running around like a 3 ring circus ????, and getting nothing out to the tables, and it wasn't that busy. The onlynice thing out of the whole ordeal was a visit from Santa!! Yes Santa was there. He asked if I had been good this year, I said "not really"!! If i could 0 zero stars i would. Ordered burgers, 6 out of the 7 burgers were ordered well done and the 7th was ordered medium... well. The 6 came pink or red in the middle one was still oozing red. The one that was actually ordered medium came out charred.Was not impressed at all. Definately a place we will ever go back to again. Very disappointing. Read more
When this was the Hy-vee Cafe it was a very enjoyable experience. Since the Wahlburger takeover it's terrible. The menu is poor,... prices are higher, and quality has declined. BUT the kicker was when we arrived Saturday to find that you now place your orderat the counter from a very limited menu and get handed your drinks to carry back to the table. We've eaten here ever since itopened but this did me in. We left without ordering anything and we'll never be back unless it changes. If I wanted this type ofexperience I'd go for fast food. We enjoy sitting down with a menu, deciding what we'd like and enjoying the time out. Hy-veeplease wake up. You're a local, employee owned company. Why are you catering to these east coasters?
