This is our new favorite place. The bartender was incredibly knowledgeable of the drinks and the food menu. He was so attentive... and our drinks were delicious. The new additions to the menu exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the atmosphere and thefriendliness of the bartender. We will come back for the people and the food. Read more

We went to this beautiful restaurant for dinner and we loved the atmosphere and food. They do not have a whole lot to choose... from but they are adding more in the next few weeks. My husband got the shrimp pasta and I got their Flatbread. We shared themeatballs appetizer and had their fabulous cheesecake for dessert. This restaurant is so quaint and the staff is very friendly. We will most definitely return. ???? Read more

My husband and I ate dinner at this restaurant with another couple for the first time this past Saturday evening. The building... itself is a really beautiful historic building with very nice outdoor seating including heaters for the cooler nights. When weentered the restaurant we were met by a young woman that was the hostess but I was confused by her appearance. She seemed to bewearing some kind of very short gauze skirt that was inappropriate for a restaurant trying to give a classy vibe. She offered usour choice of tables and we ended up sitting in the very back room. We were greeted by Haley, our server and she brought uswater and took our cocktail order promptly. The cocktails were terrific. I ordered the Caprese salad special appetizer. Theother couple ordered the charcuterie board. The Caprese salad was delicious with very tasty ingredients. The charcuterie boardwas disappointing in its offering for the price. We mentioned when looking at the menu that no bread came with the board, andour server offer to bring more meat and cheese. She actually ended up bringing another full charcuterie to our table. For mymain entree I ordered the manicotti. It did not live up to the menu description, I did not detect any sausage in the dish andthe sauce was very bland. I mentioned this to our server and she offered to comp my meal which I declined as I was only tryingto give feedback to the kitchen. My husband ordered the special lasagna Bolognese. I took a taste of his and his sauce was verygood but his lasagna was barely warm. Our friend ordered the beef Wellington cooked medium and his beef was very rare when hecut into it. We did order two desserts to finish our meal. My husband and I shared the chocolate lava cake which was good. Ourfriends shared the turtle cheesecake which they said was good but not the traditional New York style cheesecake they wereexpecting. When our check came,Haley, our server, made some brief explanation about the extra meat and chee Read more

Overall, it was disappointing. A below average experience. The entire evening was off. We ordered a charcuterie and it came... without the mentioned pita bread. When our server returned to check on us, we mentioned this and she said we'll get someadditional meat and cheese to go with the pita. She brought us an entirely new charcuterie board. Wow! We thought... Until itwas added to our bill. Boo! not good. The cocktails and wine were good, but The Old Man (their Old Fashion) was a very smallpour of bourbon. Dinners were served. The lasagna was tasty but not served hot (warmish). The manicotti was tasteless (where wasthe Italian sausage?), Beef Wellington was ordered medium and came out rare. For this, we were supposed to receive a freedessert yet only one of the 2 couples received a credit on their bill. The entire evening was off from either the kitchen orserver. Read more

We were looking for a new place for dinner and heard about Governors House Wine Bar & Kitchen.... The other great reviews were... spot on - good variety of menu items, excellent service and our meals were delicious - prime rib and ruby red trout! They wereknowledgeable about gluten allergies and able to accommodate/recommend items from the menu. We decided to have an after dinnerdrink and they found a nice table outside for our "dessert". We will definitely be back!! Read more

Husband and I ate there tonight. It was delicious! The patio is fantastic! I enjoyed the Governors Gimlet and husband had the... Suit and Tie Martini. Both cocktails were excellent! I also enjoyed a 3oz glass of Rambauer Chardonnay which was lovely! TheMediterranean shrimp skewer appetizer was very good, interesting flavor and presented like food art! I had the Ruby Red Troutand again presentation and flavor was exceptional! My husband had the chicken and was very flavorful and tender. We sharedthe berry cheesecake and it was creamy and decadent! I look forward to going back to Governors House. It is one of my new NKYfavorites! Read more

My husband and I just happened upon Governor's House Wine Bar and Kitchen while trying to find someplace we've never been. And,... I'm glad we found it! First off, the ambience is superb. It's in an historic house built in the 1800s. It's got the vibe ofstepping into a bygone era yet, very modern at the same time. They offer an extensive variety of wines and mixed cocktails. Myhusband ordered the Old Man. It consisted of bourbon, a bit of sugar, a Luxardo of cherry, and an orange peel twist. He lovedit. He said it was very smooth, and was perfect for sipping. We ordered the Thai shrimp skewer appetizer. The shrimp were toppedwith chunks of mango and micro greens, with a nice Thai chili sauce. The sweet, and slight spiciness, played well with the plumpshrimp and mango pieces. It was definitely a great starter. My husband ordered the braised short ribs, with fingerling potatoes. The meat was so juicy, and tender yet, had a great charred crust. The fingerlings were roasted perfectly. Soft, with a lightlycrisp skin. And, the red wine mushroom sauce that accompanied both was so rich, and delicious, with bold depth of flavor. Highlyrecommend this dish. I initially ordered the baked shrimp scampi over spaghetti. For me, the flavor profile of the scampi saucewas not quite to my taste. Just a bit lacking. And, honestly, I'm not a big baked noodle fan in general but, figured I'd give ita try because, it sounded really good. When Matt Combs, the manager, came by to check on us, I told him I wasn't feeling thedish. He quickly remedied the situation, and offered me another option. He was awesome! Everything a great manager should be!So, I went with the ruby red trout and grilled cauliflower. I'm so glad I did! It was PHENOMENAL!!! The trout was flaky, andbaked perfectly. It had the most flavorful lemon caper sauce. The pop of the capers were a great touch to both the trout andcauliflower. And, the cauliflower, itself, was the precise texture. Not overly crunchy, not ov Read more
