First time in a Shoney's in a long time. We were so excited when we saw the restaurant. We were greeted upon entering and... seated. They had menu's and a buffet bar. We got the buffet and it was very good. Would love to go back for breakfast buffet,but we live an hour and a half away. But we're considering it anyway. This location used to be one of my favorites when in Crossville. This past two meals there was very disappointing. I no longer... feel as though the quality of the food is a priority. The first night this past week I ordered off the menu and since I have asevere allergy to Bell peppers I always read selection descriptions very closely. When my food arrived it was covered in Bellpepper. I did not even let them set it down. I said it should have been noted on the menu. I had to wait an additional 15 minfor a remake and then I was not impressed with the quality. The second night I had the buffet and it too was of low quality andnot at all what I have come to expect from Shoney's. I spend two weeks every year working in Crossville and have for the last 20years. I guess I will have to find a new place to eat. I hadn't been to this Shoney's since 2016-2017.. I went 3 different times then, and each time was worse than the last..I give... anyplace a couple tries, as they could simply be having an off night) Anyway...after not setting foot in there in 5 years..Idecided to try again, as someone said they had a new manager, and every time I go by there seem to be quite a few cars there.. Iwas pleasantly surprised. It was clean, the servers very nice, the bar was very good.... (none of that was the case the lasttimes I was there) My server was Aliyah..and she was very nice... I asked to speak to the manager, because I wanted to share myexperiences from before, and to say how glad I was it has changed...(I think Kim was her name..)...because I plan on being aregular now... We just had the most delightful experience at this location! The facility was spotless, the staff was friendly and the food was... delicious!! Rachel, our server, was the BEST! If she would travel as far as Columbia I would hire her to work in myrestaurant! The owner is blessed to have this crew representing this store! Read more
Shoney's Crossville costs more than the other buffets in town and has very little selection of extremely poor quality food. The... Chinese buffet down the street really puts their heart into it and has three times as much food and all of it is way betterquality. I had the lunch buffet. Every Shoney's is high in price and low in quality; Now I'm wondering why I came here today. I read the other reviews and I fell for the propaganda, hoping that this one would be good, like people said. Not a chance. Everything is extremely low-grade garbage. American food is great to me, too....but Shoney's just seems to have contempt forcustomers by providing such low-grade food while the competition is still serving good food. Read more
We ate the breakfast buffet and it was not good. The grits were uncooked, the waffles were hard and it was too expensive for the... items offered. The best thing was the scrambled eggs, bacon and ham, but it wasn?t worth $11.99 per adult. I am shocked at thegenerosity of many reviewers who have made this place have an average of 4 stars???!! Also, floors were very slippery from, Ican only assume, a greasy mop?? Very, very nice staff, but I didn?t go to this location or any food location to make friends butto eat at least decent food. This was the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. I went this morning and decided to try the breakfast bar and it... was a mistake. It was 9am when I got there and they were about half full. Got seated right away by a very nice lady and myserver was at my table within a minute. She had me a small pot of coffee, got only two cups out of it, within a minute. Shesuggested the bar so I gave it a try. First off, there were NO eggs right then. The bacon was so burnt that it should havenever been placed on the bar. The sausage patties were even worst looking. There was a nice young man constantly resupplyingthe bar with stuff that they were out of. The gravy looked and tasted like they must have watered it down to make it gofurther. The biscuits were wet on the bottom and soggy. It was a shame that the manager was obviously not doing his part tokeep an eye on the quality of the food sent out to be put on the bar. What a total waste of $17.54. I would suggest that theyclose this location until all the workers could go down to the Lebanon Shoney's, and learn what a successful breakfast bar looksand tastes like. I have always enjoyed going to Shoney's but I will never waste my time coming back to this one. Read more
