A decent sushi option in the South Bay. I like getting either the chirashi or sashimi here, since their omakase is just okay to... me. The rice is served warm, which is a great contrast to the raw fish. I find it a bit strange the sashimi is cut thick andshort... Almost like blocks. It doesn't necessarily affect the taste of the fish, but the texture and the temperature isdefinitely impacted. When slices are cut longer and a bit thinner, I feel like the fish has a more consistent temperature. Here, the center of the fish feels slightly colder than it's exterior. Check in to the wait-list via Yelp! The parking here is prettynarrow, so watch out for pedestrians and cars backing out of tight spaces. You may need to circle the lot like a shark on busyweekends. Best omakase deal hands down! Only $43 for delicious fresh 10 piece nigiri. We also had the oysters which were one of the best... I ever had! Will be back Read more

The dry pot is much better than the hotpot. Service is sterile with little warmth. We'd asked if we can have a particular table... against the wall instead of the one in the middle of the room. It was before 6pm on a Saturday night and the restaurant wasmaybe 1/2 full, we were told no. Not I'm sorry this table has been reserved, just a curt no. The hotpot you have to orderminimum 8 items, the dry pot 3 items. Unless you have been here before and know what to order, it's not easy trying to navigatethe menu. Perhaps you should pull up the menu prior to arrival to familiarize yourself with it. Parking is tight, severalrestaurants sharing a small parking lot. I'll probably will be back, but not in any hurry, all in all I'll give it a B. Read more

We've had our favorite sushi places in the past, but this is our new go-to sushi restaurant. Since finding Amami ~4 month ago,... we've been here maybe 3 times per month. My wife loves the nigiri (their slices are huge), but the kids and I like their rolls:our current top selections, in order: Wild Boy ? Snow White ? Melt in your mouth. We tend to stick to these 3 rolls, but I thinkfuture visits will drop 1 and try something new. We've also recently been ordering the unagi (eel) fried rice, and that is alsoso good - recommended (but it's a bit pricey). If you order nigiri, it comes with some freshly made wasabi (ground from the realthing). Read more

The food was not bad but the service was definitely lacking. We felt consistently rushed by the waitress to make orders and... finish our food. One minute after we sat down we were already asked to order, without even having had a chance to read the menu. The salmon sashimi order was delicious though, thick-cut. Read more

Everybody here gets the Omakase - ten different chef-selected nigiri arranged beautifully on a platter. Literally every table... ordered this special. It really is good! But we also got salmon sashimi, which was amazing in its own right. I love the thick, juicy salmon cubes served with freshly grated wasabi. Read more

Amami has the most affordable omakase around here at $42. The omakase comes with 10 delicious nigiri. The sushi is so fresh and... the presentation is also beautiful. Make sure you check out the white board on the wall for specials as well. I ordered theSanta Barbara uni, sweet shrimp, scallop, and other one that I can't remember but they were all really good. The service here isexcellent. The waiters are very quick to answer any questions you might have and give excellent recommendations. Read more

Love the omakase here. All the different fish given both times I went were really good, definitely recommend it if you are a fan... of raw fish. Their rolls were less impressive to me, so I think you should only bother coming here for their sashimi/nigiri. Ialso liked their salmon cheek. My friend liked the chirashi too. Read more
