I'm In town for a conference and was searching for an Irish pub for the food, drinks, and atmosphere. Blackfriar Pub did NOT... disappoint! The Shepherd's Pie was perfect! The seasoning on the meat gave it the perfect flavor and it had the perfect balanceof meat, veggies, potatoes, and cheese. The pretzel stivks that came with it were soft and delicioud as well. I'm normally aSmithwicks girl, but I felt like being adventurous and tried the Irish coffeetini. The drink was superb! Highly recommend!!! Ihung out upstairs (and entered through a back staircase instead of the main entrance apparently) but it was perfect. Somewhatdark/dim, but upbeat and lively. There were a few other tables/groups upstairs. But not many. The bartender (Bonnie) was reallycool and knew her stuff. The only downside I could see was that the actual bar area was pretty small and only held 5-6 chairs.That won't be near enough once word gets out about how great this place is! I'm so glad that something good moved into this spot. It's a great location right across from the Lakewood Theater. Food... selection and quality has been good and drinks are fairly priced. The TV set up is ideal for viewing sports. Service is friendlyand attentive. Read more
Watched LSU game there at Lakewood location... It was crowded, so service and food were slow and at times challenging. Got Fish... & Chips. Was good but nothing special. Average bar with average bar food, in my opinion. Read more
