After ordering sandwiches from Great American Hero, my family thought of them as just okay - not great, not terrible ? just... mediocre. The sandwiches reminded us of another popular sub sandwich chain. With so many outstanding sandwich options in Dallas,I don?t think we?ll go back to this place. Read more

I used to be a regular of the old location a few years ago. This new location is definitely an upgrade in terms of aesthetics,... but it seems like the quality of the sandwiches isn?t the same. The bread was pretty good, but they had very little meat andthe quality of what there was left something to be desired, especially at the prices they are charging. Read more

My husband and I used to drive out of our way to go to the original location so we were glad they moved. However, we?ve visited... twice now and the first time was ok as they were just opening and sorting out a few issues, but today, I was disappointed. Afterpaying $30+tip for two combos?a sandwich, chips, large drinks and two cookies, we were bummed that after requesting thesandwiches be made ?hero style? we got home and they were looking sort of sad and not ?hero style?. Hoping they get some ofthese kinks worked out ?didn?t seem like the value was there like it has been in the past. Read more

My wife and I wanted to try the new location and grab a quick sandwich. The toppings were fresh and the sandwich could have been... pretty decent and worth re-visiting; however, the meat served was thin; pathetically so. For the price of about 10$ for eachsandwich, we got an oz of meat, maybe. It was like a joke. She got the Pastrami and Carnegie deli it is not. I?m not sure ifthe original location had the same philosophy, but I probably wouldn?t revisit. Read more

First time here. Texas cheesesteak sub was not good at all. Red peppers cooked so long it was complete mush and tasteless. Young... boy making my sandwich forgot the mushrooms. And now looking at the menu again since leaving, he also forgot the onions. Noattention to detail by the boys making the sub. I asked the woman who took my order if the meat on the counter was for my subbefore they prepared it because I requested provolone cheese but they were about to use something different. When she brought itto their attention and told them she wrote down provolone they didn?t acknowledge her speaking to them. She also had to tellthem it was a dine in order, not to go, as they placed my sandwich in a to go container. She was very pleasant to dealwith. The restaurant was clean. A little more attention to detail is needed. I understand if staff is new, or even in training, but, being courteous doesn?t require training. Read more

Nothing will ever match the history, coziness and uniqueness of 4001 Lemmon Ave. I hope the new owners can keep a bits of the... original and develop the Dominick?s baby into a classic family spot for many more generations to enjoy. I had a #8 and it wasjust as delicious, fresh and yummy. The lemonade too was just as I remember it (from 2 months ago, lol), just the right amountof sweet and tart. You will see many familiar faces and some items from the old location. The benches made the trip and got awonderful refinish. The ?Healthy Mouthful Lips? are eating a sandwich to the right of the ordering line. I wasn?t in long enoughto take everything in, but look forward to going back as much today as I did as I child.
