Some of the best beef shawarma I've ever had, it reminds me a lot of the gyros I grew up eating! They serve the shawarma on rice... or on a pita bread, both ways are great though and have their pros and cons. I usually just get both lol. My wife usually ordersthe chicken shawarma which is fantastic as well, a lot of the same flavor is there but it's a little less seasoned than thebeef. Read more
Yummy shwarma and falafels, fast and kind service, lots of outdoor seating. Also good value (at least for Davis prices). It can... get busy around lunch due to a flood of students, but if anything that shows Sams is a quality institution. They do not takephone orders, which is a definite negative for me, especially during the 4 hottest months of the year. Read more
I had the same experience here as with Sophia's Thai restaurant last week. My takeout was incorrect. Just like Sophia's - the... restaurant (which used to be in a house, in a residential neighborhood across from the city park) is very nice with an outsideporch. The service was excellent when placing my order. However, I ordered a Chicken Shawarma over Rice. What I received wasnot the order. I called the restaurant, but it went to Voicemail. So I just ate whatever I had. However, would I eat hereagain? Yes - at the restaurant. The service was immaculate, and the restaurant and front porch was very nice. Sam's is a Davis classic. High quality gyros and rice plates. Extremely flavorful. The rice plates are filling, but if order a... gyro i usually get fries on the side too. They take credit card, but with a fee. My personal favorite restaurant in Davis. Read more
Nice restaurant, we enjoyed outdoor seating. They made the food so good and only took 3 minutes. I liked the shawerma, falafel,... hummus and the salad. They have assigned parking in the back which made life easier. Read more

This restaurant has gone down hill steadily after moving to their current location. A decade ago, the food was fresh and... homemade but that is not the case anymore.. The ?shawarma? served is not shawarma and seems to be some sort of frozen processedproduct that is warmed up then chopped up to try to mask this. I would bet that there is no shawarma spit in the kitchen at all.The fries are pretty clearly frozen store bought and do not taste fresh at all. Pretty bad sign if you can?t cut up potatoes anddrop them in the fryer. Food has continuously become more expensive over time while quality has declined. The food is mostlystore bought and then assembled in the kitchen. It is certainly edible but hard to justify the cost for most people in yolocounty for what it is. The food at east Med chain fast food restaurants like The kebab shop is much better. Sad to see. Read more
