Sophia's has nice atmosphere and good food. The cocktails are very nicely crafted. It's not too loud, nice for a date. The food... is not spicy enough for my liking and the curry is a bit on the watery side, but still tasty fresh food. Read more

I?ve got to Sophia?s a number of times but recently the service has been pretty unpleasant at times. What really bothers me... though is my most recent attempt to order for pickup. I ordered a soup and stated a wheat allergy with the order (I always statethis allergy and have been served this dish many times recently). The kitchen called and said there is a problem and that theycan?t make me the soup with my limitation. They said the only thing they could do is heat up water coconut milk plain. I askedif I could change my order and I was told I would have to decide between the watered down coconut milk, or cancel the entireorder. Oh and then they still charged me and I had to call again! I have a number of issues with this, most notably that I?vebeen served the same dish in the past, so either I have been served unsafe food on multiple occasions, or the kitchen was beingextremely rude and upset with me for having an allergy. I don?t have an issue with being told no, but the whole exchange wasunpleasant. Finally, I?m well aware of the ingredients of the dish ordered, and I cannot think of any reason why this dishwould have wheat under normal circumstances- that?s why I ordered it. Read more

I?ve been here many times over the years, and the service and food are fine. But when I went there with a friend recently, they... charged my card TWICE, going from a $45 meal to almost $100 for some fried rice and pad thai. If you go there and pay by card, take the customer copy of the receipt, and please check your transaction history to make sure they don?t do it to you as well. Read more

Normally I don't write a bad review; only when I want to give a head's up to other potential diners. I ordered the Pad Thai,... online, and paid extra for vegetables and broccoli. The ordering online was fine, as well as the pick-up. The hostess wasfriendly and the Pad Thai was ready at the pick-up time. However, when I returned to the hotel and opened up the Pad Thai -there was no vegetables and broccoli. Furthermore, the Pad Thai was 'meh'. It was disappointing, to say the least. I could'vecalled the restaurant, but that's one of the challenges of online ordering. Once you are out the door, it's pretty much a donedeal. However, I will say the restaurant interior/courtyard was very nice; and the service inside the restaurant was also verynice. I would eat here again only if I was eating in the restaurant. However, I wouldn't order online again. Read more

Crowded inside and outside seating. There were flies flying around the whole time, flies on the window, on the furniture and on... our food. We were seated inside. Imagined if we were sitting outside. We ordered chicken lettuce wrap (mien gai) pad kee maochicken & shrimp (drunken noodles), chicken satay, rice, three flavor fish (pla preaw wan). Every single item we've ordered wasnot what we expected. We waited for our food a long time. When the food finally came out, we wanted to send it all back to thekitchen and walk out of there. But we didn't because we don't do that. The fish was over cooked and way too dry no flavor exceptsour no savory no saltiness. The drunken noodles was soggy and broken like dried up noodle soup with vegetables. There's hardlyany vegetables only few slices of bell peppers and hardly any shrimp or chicken. The chicken wraps were just ground chickenblanched with hot water with cashew nuts, soy sauce, and cornstarch. There were no dipping sauce. We asked for hoison sauce todip our wraps in. The waitress brought out a caddy of only chili oil and some other peppers and set it on our table. There wereno sauce plate or utensils. We didn't get any dipping sauce for the wraps. Chicken satay were deep fried until brownish burntand dried. (No tumeric or curry or coconut milk used) Just 4 little skewers of deep fried dried brown burnt chicken and nopeanut sauce. They gave us just a plain liquid clear sauce that didn't go with it. It was our first time there and will be ourlast time. I don't think the food was cooked by a Thai person. It's not even authentic Thai. Didn't look or taste like Thai. Idon't know how they stayed in business? If you want authentic good Thai food and good service, do not go to Sophia Thai in DavisGO SOME WHERE ELSE! Read more

Why is it okay to serve customers burnt food for takeout? If I were dining-in, I would've sent the Pad See Ew dish back... immediately. I had to throw away a good portion of my dinner and forced myself to eat the bitter burnt bits that I couldn't takeout. It was a really unpleasant experience. The flavor was good and is usually really good but I am so disappointed they letthis burnt dish out the kitchen. Did they think that was okay since we can't send it back? The Basil Fried Rice was good. MaybeI just came on a bad day but wow it didn't make a good impression on the standards of the kitchen. Read more

We've always heard people going to eat at Sophia's. So we grabbed lunch here. The service is pretty good as they come around and... give drink refills. We also really enjoyed our dishes: panang curry with fried tofu and drunken noodles with beef. We got a sideof brown rice for the curry. Both dishes were tasty and had a kick. Our waitress also offered us their spice rack. It had 4different spice condiments! The peppers were hot! Overall it was a great lunch. We were glad we came! Read more
