Updated review as you can see things have definitely change since my last review: As you can see I had to update my review cause... I am highly disappointed because I visit this place often. A few weeks ago I celebrated my birthday here didn't complain theywere extremely short it took forever to get our food and it was pretty busy on a Tuesday night so I didn't complain the drinkswere good. The food is always OK. Decided to come back to celebrate my mother-n-law birthday party of ten. All those thatordered chicken noticed a funny, rank taste with the meat. Management assured us the meat was fresh and brought out a bowl withsamples which still tasted somewhat the same. Refusing to recook the entire meal he also brought out steak samples. I dont knowif it was the seasoning or what, but the chicken still tasted fouled. Refusing to prepare another dish, we ordered more foodcause we were hungry with shrimp, not wanting to ruin the night for the birthday girl. Sometimes you have to value yourcustomers opinion and recognize everyone is not trying to get over. I feel like if we had been a table of another race we wouldhave gotten our meals replaced no problem. We were a table of professionals that didnt want to ruin the moment for someonecelebrating 66 years. Paid for three meals two that we couldnt eat in fear of geting sick. You lost a good,loyal customer thathas been supporting you since the doors open. I will miss my favorite mamarita dip, but I will not be returning to thisestablishment. Our order to go was wrong, when we got home food was not what we ordered, salsa was missing. Chimichangas we?re all... soggy. Terrible. Dallas our waitress didn?t do anything to make order right. Host was friendly and well-spoken. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. Chips were crisp. My husband got the Hawaiian... chicken specialty, which had perfectly cooked fresh bacon. The Fresh Lime Margarita was excellent! Perhaps one of the best that I've had in the U.S. Unfortunately we were having so much... fun, I completely forgot to take any photos of our food once it arrived. The fresh guacamole was very tasty and chunky ratherthan pureed into a paste - in other words - authentic. Chips and salsa were plentiful and good. As there were 10+ in our party,we had a wide range of items from the menu (from appetizers, to ala carte to entrees). Everyone seemed very pleased. The MexicanChicken Egg Rolls are a must try! The staff did a great job accommodating all of us and ensuring that we had an enjoyable diningexperience - despite an obvious staff shortage (like almost every other business) but those that were working were bustingtheir butts! This was my first visit to Mama Rita's in Dawson. The restaurant is easy to find. The inside was clean and the decor wasn't... overwhelming. The service was good until they started getting busy. After things picked up, we lost our waiter and the tableacross from us couldn't even get served. The margaritas didn't disappoint. They were delicious as well as the food. I had veggiefajitas and my dinner companion had shrimp fajitas. Both dishes were brought out still sizzling and had a good taste. Bellpeppers are included with fajitas. They were still firm not soft, which is the way I like them. The proportions were generous. Iwould go back. Great new place to go have a good meal and nice cold drinks on a hot day. We had a male waiter. But I think he was owner or... manager. When we didn't see him we tried to wave the other 3 females behind the bar to get refills on chips and regular drinksbut they were to busy talking and laughing. The older curly looking one kept putting her hair up and taking it down. 3 or 4times she done that. She also was the one we noticed making the mix drinks. when someone ordered one she would show and tellingthe other two how she does it. Keep in mind with her playing with her hair off and on, never saw her wash her hands. That's thereason I gave it 4 stars and not 5. Over all we had a nice evening out. Read more
