Today was my first time visiting Corner Kitchen! I was told by friends who visited in the past that it has changed a lot. When... myself and my plus one arrived at the restaurant we were asked if we had visited since the recent “revamp” by person at thedoor, as well as our wait staff. They informed us that there had been many changes over the last few months. We were told thatthey had a completely different menu and team than they had in the past. We were excited to try this place with an unbiasedopinion!! We made sure to order a couple things from across the menu to give ourselves a good base of judgment. We had plans tograb grab a few light items to hold us over, but it was hard to narrow our options down! We ended up loading up on a few smallplates and a couple drinks to get the night going. Apps: - Deviled Eggs (Amazing!!) - Pierogi Pot Stickers - Beef Chips (FriedBeef Tips) (Great) Desert: - Hummingbird Cake- Bourbon macerated fruits, orange crème anglaise (Amazing!!) Drinks: - Water -Cranberry Mule (Amazing!!) To start — The customer service was GREAT!! The waitstaff explained everything about the place andall the specials and drinks options. The food preparation was speedy and came out sooner than we expected. The atmosphere andthe vibe had a nice feel and the presentation was uniform and sleek! The deviled eggs were TOP LEVEL! I almost placed anordered for some to take home but i didn’t want them to sit in the car for too long! The Hummingbird Cake blew my mind! Ididn’t know what to expect at first, but it was well worth it. My friend really enjoyed the Ribs and barely wanted to share afew (even though the portion size was more than enough lol). When I get the chance to make it back to Dayton for anotherspecial occasion, this place will be on my list of options!! Stop in and try them out! Read more
I always had a feeling this is a high end restaurant with high-end prices but today I decided to walk-in and take a look at the... menu. To my surprise they have great choices for great prices. I ordered a Mimosa and Brussels Spouts and Potatoes for brunch.The Brussels sprouts are a tad on the burnt side, but other than that it was delicious and the server was professional andfriendly. ‘‘Twas date night for my wife and I. We’re always in the mood for a finer dining experience that we can’t have just... anywhere. This did not disappoint. The food was solid for the price. It was well executed. The cocktails were not overlyinventive and the draft list was modest. It was very loud for a weeknight and a table for two was very tight. I’m glad we’rerelatively small. Otherwise, we would have been uncomfortable. The staff was attentive and genuinely caring which is all you canask for as a patron. Summary: We’ll be back. While we may not frequent CK, it’ll be on the above average list wheneverwe’re downtown. Read more
UPDATE AS TO RESPOND TO THE REPLY: I had to delete my old review and post a new review under the new ownership. Unfortunately,... Corner Kitchen falls very short of what it once was. The overall experience was one that I hope to soon forget. The food fellshort, the atmosphere is in an identity crisis, beverages with enough sugar in them to make the koolaid man have diabetes, andthe service was that of a high school cafeteria. There were misses on all fronts. This restaurant is trying to capitalize offof its name that was once the cornerstone and foundation of dining within the Oregon District. Also stop charging $75 for asteak or at least say where it’s coming from. In response to your reply. We had an in depth conversation with the housemanager that evening. We couldn't have had a better experience at our first time visiting Corner Kitchen since its reopening. Literally every single... staff member and each menu item was top notch! We arrived on a whim for a date night without the kids, with no reservation, yetwere seated promptly and treated like VIPs. Cocktails were delicious, food was spot on - seriously tasty and cooked toperfection, and service was excellent. Best creme brulee I can remember. Can't wait to go back again, and see the rest of theircollection of artwork that's still being hung. Really liked the Chappelle fan art, but unfortunately missed the artist's name.Well done all, bringing this gem back to Dayton! Definitely will recommend, and return next chance. Read more
We opted for outdoor seating. Server was quick in serving and hospitable. Food was good. Salmon was a bit salty. Shrimp were too... good, and were also perfectly cooked. Overall tasty food. Indoor seating looked very pleasant. Read more
