I grew up in Decatur, and since I've moved away. I returned for a visit, and of course had to visit my favorite pizza place... from my childhood. Honestly, I was disappointed. It was okay, but not great. I can't exactly describe what was different, butif this was my first time visiting, I wouldn't not be that impressed. I did make a second visit, just to ensure that the firstwas not an "off day" or something, but I had the same experience the second visit as well. Wonderful! THE BEST THIN CRUST INDIVIDUSL PIZZAS EVER!!!!! I had the DELIGHT...VERY well done. I am sad Monicals is only in... Illinois....but visiting here after being gone for 6 years....wow. I didnt realize how much I missed their pizza!!!! You guysHAVE to try it! Secret tip: Ask for French dressing...then DIP your Monicals pizza in it. OMG! You will thank the heavens. We received a burnt-up pizza after specifically requesting it to be undercooked on the app. The manager said it would be taken... care of and instead we ended up getting a 50% off coupon in the mail. This is the second time this has happened and good luckgetting anyone on the phone at the main office. It's a bummer since it's the closest pizza place to our house, but I'm overbeing given a wrong order and then getting told to buy another one as a reimbursement. Read more
Restaurant was dirty. Booth we were at had crumbs in the booth and all under on the floor. The service was awful. No one... wanted to do a job. They were all congregated in a prep area off the hallway on their phones and talking. Pizza was okay andthe salad was good. We didn't get refills on drinks and we WAITED over 15 minutes to pay. We had a call in order and when I walked in at least 3 different people came to the counter and no one acknowledged me as being... there and then they were very sharp when I paid. I continued to stand and several minutes later a girl very politely brought meout my breadsticks. Used to love Monicals. Each experience I feel it gets a little worse. Between prices, and the half full containers we get it... just makes it harder and harder to be our go to. Also. Heart shaped pizza? I worked at a pizza place for a few years andwould've sent this back. I get it can't look like the good done up photo op images but c'mon.
