Food was very good service was really about a four and a half. While our server was good trying to get water refills was... challenging. On the menu it says root vegetables but it doesn't say which root vegetables.. when our server was taking my orderI had asked for a salad until I found out they had brussel sprouts which by the way were delicious, I asked them to cancel mysalad but they brought it anyway and still hit me with the upcharge. Always a favorite in Downtown Decatur. This restaurant never lets me down and is always the guest favorite. Staff is attentive... and the food is amazing. My go to meal here is the drinking pork chop, twice backed potato, and the classic old fashioned. Ifit?s your first time try the hot rock, always a group pleaser. Read more
Tap Root is located in a converted downtown building. It is on the second floor and plans across several sections. They've... maintained much of the original vintage decor that is very welcoming. Great for a date night. The staff was very friendly andfood was delivered fast and hot. Problems I had was that they offered a very limited menu. Food was good and I would have giventhem a higher score, but given the overly high prices, the portions were way too small. I had a steak and it was chewy. If thesun is up, don't let them seat you near a window. They have no blinds so we baked in the early even sun. I swear I got a tan onthe back of my neck and my husband was blinded through most of the meal. Read more

I would normally give Taproot a much higher rating but all I can honestly give is a 2.0-2.5 rating after last night's dining... experience. Our reservation was at 7:30 and our food did not come out until 9:00. We had a party of 8 (celebrating severalbirthdays). Most of us ordered twice baked potatoes - they later came out to tell us they were out (okay, that happens). Weordered garlic mashed potatoes instead. When our food finally came out some of us had mashed potatoes and some of us did not(they ran out of those as well). Our food was barely warm (the mashed potatoes were cold). I ordered the truffle filetmedium-rare and it was cooked medium-well. All of our meat was overcooked except for one steak (he likes his well done). Thedrinks were good, the cheese curds & crab dip apps were yummy, and the bread is always delicious. Taproot has a niceatmosphere. We have been many times but last night was sub par. The manager came out to apologize and some of our meals weretaken off (the meals we didn't eat). We will go back but it won't be for a long time. The apple cinnamon mule was probably the best drink I have had in months. The glazed pork chop was amazing. I highly recommend... it. The crab dip was also very good, the chips they serve with it are the best part. Read more
Our server wasn't the friendliest guy but he got her order right and that made me happy. The food was delicious
