Great food! Not your typical run of the mill Mexican food restaurant, but better.
We visited Rustico for the second time on Friday, June 24,2022. Excellent food choices. The Chicken Cancun was the star of the... show with the rum and pecan sauce with plantains and seasoned vegetables. Really great atmosphere. 5 stars to the chef. Theonly negative part was the restaurants temperature appeared to be the same as the outside temperature which was close to 98F andfrequent visits from pesky flies which took away from the dining experience. The wait staff were very friendly and attentivebut there seemed to be a language barrier, the five of us got our meals but they were not what we ordered from the menus whichwere minor hiccups (Spanish rice served when Poblano Rice was on menu) and with the humid temperature of the restaurant the teaand water glasses stayed empty, we had to ask numerous times for refills on all the beverages and for additional ice as theempty glasses of ice melted quickly. The above were minor issues that the Excellent food and great atmosphere more than made upfor. The Mexican food at this place is the best in Denison just make sure the person taking your order understands what you areordering. Read more
Finally made it to Rustico after a lake weekend at Texoma. This is now tied for our favorite Mexican restaurant near Texoma, and... wins our favorite dine-in Mexican spot. (Favorite to-go is Cielito Lindo). The food at Rustico is obviously made fresh withwhole ingredients. You can taste the difference. Our table tried chicken queso enchiladas (yum), tortilla soup (one of the bestI?ve ever had), and steak fajitas (so good). We also tried the mambo taxi (exactly as expected), sangria & Bloody Mary. Thechips were warm & fresh, salsa was GREAT. And somehow they were able to provide amazing service even though they were shortstaffed. Just be patient, it?s worth the wait. Highly recommend. The food was great, the amount of food for the price was very reasonable, our waitress never let my tea glass become empty,... they're definitely on top of their game, I had the chicken fajita, it was sooooo good. Read more
Great food with a unique touch that complements your favorite Mexican dishes. The Carne Asada plate came with a side of rice... fried with a surprisingly perfect blend of cilantro. The roasted jalapeno was sprinkled with queso fresco and a Pico salad thatconsisted of diced fresh tomatoes and pineapple. Yes, pineapple. A plesent surprise to an allredy very appealing dish. The sideof pinto beans were cooked to perfection with pices of smoked bacon, onions and a hint of garlic. Finally the main event. TheCarne Asada was roasted to a mild almost brisket like crust that gave way to a moist center you could cut with a fork. The nextdish pictured is Chicken enchiladas. Smothered in a home made white cheese sauce and filled with shredded smoked chicken thatgot better with each mouth full. A side of Mexican rice and refried black beans made for a classic combination that screamscomfort food. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town. Great job! Read more
We were fortunate that Chef waited on us for our first visit It was a pleasure talking about why he loves this. I will say... this is by far one of my favorite meals I've ever had - honestly. I enjoyed every bite. The meal was so flavorful! I chose thelobster and shrimp chile relleno. Perfectly plated over poblano rice, the smoky flavor blended subtly. I loved the smoky tomatosauce for the lobster and shrimp, and the pepper was perfectly breaded. He chose the 2 enchiladas and enjoyed the chicken . Came here to celebrate my sisters birthday. I called a day before to make a reservation, but for some reason they didn't have it... noted. There was a man at the front, he asked us to wait a few minutes while he figured it out. He managed to set a table up forus. He was very nice, respectful, and worked quickly. Our waitress had our drinks to us very quickly too. She made sure we hadeverything we needed at all times. We ordered a few appetizers, nachos and queso with beef and spinach. OMG...the nachos weregreat, but that queso was amazing!!! And the chips didn't just crumble when trying to eat, so I loved them too. The food is the finest quality! You won't find better taste & flavor anywhere else! You really get what you pay for here!... Rustico has great atmosphere as well. The service is superb as well! The servers are respectful, courteous and expedient. Igladly tipped 20%. I highly recommend the stuffed jalapenos! Absolutely the best I've ever had! Our meal for 2 was under $40.with appetizer! Chef Felipe gave us a scrumptious chocolate tres leches cake layered with chocolate ice cream & topped withwhipped cream for my wife's birthday ????! Top notch destination! Read more
