We came in around 9pm Friday night to find the place not very busy-there were many open tables available. We stood at the... entrance for 5-7 minutes while we watched a server interact with diners at a table also located at the entrance. We weren?t surewhether to seat ourselves or not, so we waited still longer. The server acknowledged us, the hostess greeted us and she tried toseat us right in front of the men?s restroom. I asked if she would seat us elsewhere, I didn?t want that spot. She began tellingme who had how many tables and all the reasons why we had to sit there and no place else was available (except for 1/2 therestaurant). She then walked away. My sweetie decided differently; we got up to leave but on the way out, he asked anotherserver if we could sit in her area. She was happy to have us. I hardly ever leave reviews, but I wanted to leave one specifically for Amy. The restaurant closed at 11pm and my boyfriend and... I went in around 10:30pm. We only wanted chips and queso but no one knew that. Because it was late and we figured everyone wasready to go home, we were expecting to be greeted with an irritated server. When Amy got to our table, she was truly a ray ofsunshine. You would?ve thought we walked in mid day! She was SO sweet, patient, and even encouraged us to get whatever we wantand not to worry about time. She was super genuine and coming in contact with someone that was so sweet and kind after the kindof day we had made our entire night. We even talked about how amazing she was on the way home! I had a long and exhausting couple of days and needed a good sit-down meal before I drove home. I picked On the Border because... Mexican food sounded good and I always enjoyed visiting my local restaurant. My waiter was nice and helpful. The chips andsalsa were excellent, and I'll go one step further... I think On the Border has the best chips and salsa among the chainrestaurants. The chips are thick and crisp with a great taste. The salad is absolutely delicious. I ordered the steak fajitas.It came quick and hot. The fajitas had a great taste to them. The peppers were crisp and sweet. Even the beans and rice weregood. My set-up had Pico, lettuce, and cheese. I was disappointed that it didn't include guacamole and sour cream. I don'tremember if that's a new thing or it's always been that way, but I wish that was part of it. All ways to order online weren?t working. Called in and was placed on hold for 5+ minutes before taking my order. Arrived at the... time I was told, called inside, and no one came out for 10+ minutes. I went inside, wasn?t greeted, then eventually got my food.The portions were pitiful (especially the queso) and the food was mediocre, at best. Chips were inedible (super stale). They took so long to bring out our food. We were served chips from another table, 3 full grown adults given one bowl of cold... Salsa chips from one table over. Smh. There was another table who came in as 2 full grown adults and a baby, and even they had 2hot chips sent their way. The dinning experience was so bad, they forgot to bring back my debit card after i had finished payingfor our meal. I had brought my dad over for his birthday and this experience was truly horrible. I don't give bad reviews, eventhe bare minimum service makes me smile. But this was just not good in any way. I hope they change and treat everyone equally.Also, their serving sizes are small. Took a bit before a server came to take our order.. The food came out subpar, It either had no salt or too salty.Customer... service sucked very bad! Food was decent, service was OK. We had a party of 15 so will give them some grace for the speed of the service, but having no... silverware, not ever bringing the water, and waiting till we were almost done eating to bring the second drink was fairlyannoying. Read more
