Our experience at Venice left much to wish for, unfortunately. The short version: the food was great, but the service was... mediocre. Coming to Venice, we walked in with a certain set of expectations. That's what it usually comes down to: can thebusiness meet or exceed their guests' expectations. Let's start with the postive. The food here is incredible. From theappetizers to the entrees to the desserts, Venice does an incredible job. I had the veal and my wife went for the seafood dish.Both were splendid. Venice definitely showed their best side when it comes to the meal. The service was unfortunately not asgood as other places of this caliber. It took a while before our server came, he wasn't super helpful with the wine list (moreon that momentarily), and in the latter half of our meal, we had a hard time tracking him down to replenishing our wines andwaters. I ended up eating my entree without wine, as he wasn't around to take my order or deliver the iPad wine list. Theservice wasn't as attentive as we'd expect from a restaurant like this. The wine list ... I'm a bit split on this one. Theselection is incredible. Nobody would be able to argue that. However, the task of selecting a wine from the list with trulyminimal information from the iPads they provide makes the task a bit daunting for probably most people. It would be nice if thewines could be labeled with some basic characteristics, such as sweetness, acidity, tannins, and perhaps some short notes on theflavor profile. We ended up with a couple of glasses of good wine to start with, but as soon as we wanted to order anotherglass, it took at least 10 minutes for the iPad to be tracked down again. This part of our experience felt a bit awkward. Inconclusion, I think our experience could have at least met expectations if the service would have been a bit better, moreattentive, and more helpful. I wish I could give this place a 5 star review, but it fell short of it. Food was good, but one entree was botched. Service was... good overall, but botched the check by adding a drink that we didn't order, told us we wouldn't be charged, and then were afterrunning our card. Everything was mostly great until the end, which left a sour taste before leaving. There's no excuse forsmall errors that were completely misrepresented by the staff. Be honest and fix the problems pointed out, and quit makingexcuses. Read more
We had an incredible dining experience at Venice while my Italian family was in town. Everything from the service, presentation,... aesthetics, wine, menu, courses, food was phenomenal! Our reservation was on time, excellent service, noise level moderate,beautiful wine cellar, air conditioned and overall the best dining experience we’ve had in Denver. The food was exceptionaland our server Paige made excellent recommendations. As an Italian who lived and studied in Italy, Venice is the closestexperience to Italian dining than any other restaurant in Denver. There was heart and intention into our overall diningexperience. Wonderful experience from drinks to desert! After we gave up waiting on a reservation at another restaurant, the hostess was... able to find us an extra table on a busy night. The food was excellent and the entire serving staff was wonderful. We lookforward to coming back. Read more
First and foremost, the food is excellent at Venice on December 18, 2021. I regret not taking a picture of my Fresca salad... presentation as it was wrapped in a circle of long cut cucumbers before cutting into it. I did take the picture after cuttingbecause the flavor was so enjoyable and was beyond my expectations for a salad. We enjoyed a few bottles of Valpolicella. Ihighly recommend the Sea Bass as it may be one of the best, most flavorful combinations I have ever enjoyed. Also pictured isthe Rigatoni con Salsiccia, which I sampled and the flavor was rich and creative in how it was packed full of several flavorswith none dominating the other. When making a reservation, try to avoid the square table near the wine cellar on the busy pathto the bath rooms and kitchen that the servers quickly travel. It is not relaxing as you may accidentally get brushed up againston occasion. Our server was excellent and eager to please. The manager really stepped up and rescued us from a sommelier thatmade ordering wine frustratingly too hard. We went from ordering one bottle to three because of the manager. A wise managerindeed. We made early reservations (4:15PM) and it seemed as though they weren't even ready for guests. Service to the table was slow.... Food presentation was beautiful but the main courses left a lot of desire for us. Both salad options had excellent flavor.. Igot the Scampi Pomodora e Manta and it was a spicy take on the dish the shrimp were overcooked and neither my husband nor Iliked it. My husband got the special and was disappointed as well.
