I've been eating at the Village Inn in Derby since they opened. I've usually get one of their large dinner salads, last week we... went in and I ordered the same salad as always. When it arrived I noticed that it was about half the size it normally is, but Idid not say anything then. We were planning on going there tonight, so I decided to call the manager before we left to talkabout the salad size. The manager told me that they reduced the salad size because they had been making them to large sincethey opened ten or twelve years ago. I think that is a load of s#!#. This place is known for a busy breakfast but supper is like walking into a low end grocery store grabbing a frozen meal and... calling it a dinner. Everything tasted like it was only heated up. Worst chicken fried steak I've had with no flavor and lukewarm. My date had the chicken pot pie and she said the same. Very bland. Service was also bad. Too busy talking in the kitchenand not seeing my glass on the edge of the table waiting to be filled. After a different waitress was walking by my date calledout for her to fill my glass. I've ate at other locations and I do have to say that the Derby location is above the others I've visited. Food was very good... and presentation was appealing! Location was clean. Waitress was nice and friendly. The only reason I gave 4 stars was due tothe fact that only kids can order kids meals. The portions are large and some people, including the elderly can't eat or don'twant to eat so much. Read more
