During my DTW layover tonight, I decided to try Mezza for the first time. Despite my arriving toward their closing time, my... server was both polite and friendly, and I was seated promptly. I ordered the chicken shawarma and fries, along with a Coke. Mymeal came out within ten minutes, and I was pleasantly surprised with the freshness of the wrap's contents and its crispness.Perhaps a little bland, the pickles added some nice zing. The creamy garlic sauce was a bit less than hoped for, perhaps becauseit was firming up in the fridge, and the fries were hot but could've used some seasoning. The Coke had a bit of a strange aftertaste, though that could be due to my taste buds being off a bit since I live elsewhere with a different water supply. Wow, bad even for airport food. The tomato basil soup was inexplicably jelly-like and was absolutely molten, so I assume it was... microwaved. I immediately burned my mouth on it and will now be regretting visiting this place all week while I can't taste thefood in my destination city. I ordered my fries extra crispy and when they came out like 5-10 minutes later they weren't evenhot. The soup was okay as a dipping sauce for the fries. The temperatures kinda evened out. The chicken tenders breading wassoggy and greasy, but they were edible, I guess. Read more
