Love this neighborhood gem! Catfish dinner consisted of two whole filets. I was pleasantly surprised because most places are... cheaping out. Also ordered a turkey chop dinner. My mouth is watering thinking about them. I reminded me of juicy pork chops,but turkey instead. Both dinners were perfectly seasoned. The mac, yams, greens, and sweet potato muffins were on point! I heard about Sweet Potato Sensations reading an article about recommended restaurants in Detroit. It sounded good so I put it... on my "want to check out" list. There were many great things & some that could use improvement in my opinion: -The greetingmessage when you call is outstanding; she sounds so cheerful, friendly, & really uplifting :) -The customer service; both womenworking the day I went were very friendly. The one answering the phones was very friendly too but I called once on my way thereto try to place my take out order ahead of time and was on hold for 10 minutes and gave up. I also called when I got homebecause I was missing an item and was on hold 11 minutes so hung up and called back later when I finally did get to talk withoutbeing asked to hold. She was sincerely sorry about the missing item & made a note of it so I could come back the next day to getit. To their credit - they were super busy & I think they were doing their best but I think the restaurant needs to come up withsome better systems to handle the high demand moments. Also, if there's a missing item on a take out order something tocompensate me for my trouble is recommended. I live 15 minutes away which I why I didn't come back the same day to get my item.I waited until I was out again the next day, but it was still out of my way to return for it. -The food was hot and fresh eventhough they were so busy. I appreciate the option to receive my receipt via text because they also texted me when my order wasabout to be ready. That being said, another example of the need for a better system is that I received the text that my food wascoming up from the kitchen & would be bagged & ready shortly. 10 minutes later, still waiting so I approached the counter & letthe employee know. She went & checked & sure enough the food was ready & she bagged it up but had I not said anything, who knowshow much longer I would have waited. Clean establishment. Friendly and courteous staff. Chocolate cake was superb. The icing was sweet and delicious with moist... cake. The lemon pound cake, i couldn't taste the lemon. The cake, however, was moist and tasted like a pound cake. I hope to trythe cream cheese pound cake in the future. Read more
Great foods and sweets!! A gorgeous space in a beautiful atmosphere! Sweet potatoes and more. The sweet potato waffles go well... with salmon croquettes and chicken, too! They make salmon croquettes and sweet potatoes taste great together. Who else could dothat??!! There are sweet potato cookies, too, and even ice cream is served year round. Gift cards, handbags, and other assortedfashions are on gorgeous display. So are soaps and unisex body products. Sweet Potato sensations is located across from thehistoric Redford Theatre! What is not to love? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the service is top of the line! No matter whenI visit, whether alone, or with friends and family, I love it here. The place is amazing! I was disappointed they didn't have sweet potato ice cream, and really haven't had it for the last two... months. There are so many great items to try. I really like that they have individual serving sizes, so I can buy them all. Thesweet potato chocolate chip cookie has good flavor. The edges were bit hard, but the center was soft and great. There arewalnuts in the cookie, it would be nice to know that up front. I'm not sure I would have bought it if I knew there were nuts inthe cookie. I'll be back to try more again. Read more
Absolutely loved this place!! They not only sell food but have other items for purchase. Shirts, shea butter, lotions, a few... other items. The friendliness of the staff was a major plus but the food was excellent. We had the turkey chop sandwiches,collard green/black eye pea soup, crochet patties, and sweet potato cheescake. This place is phenomenal! The food is great! I'm working my way down the menu. I really love the store that's included with... clothing and an array of health and beauty products from local vendors. Only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Read more
