Vertical Detroit was an awesome find during our stay in Detroit. This restaurant is high end featuring an expansive wine menu.... Chef Matt Barnes prepared tantalizing dishes that were bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. The pork belly was tender,delicate, and mouth watering. Without a doubt, one of the worst restaurants I?ve ever been to. The only reason I gave it the two stars is because the... restaurant is cute inside and they have good parking.. I ordered a lemonade at first, DISGUSTING. It was without a doubt, lemonwater. Exchanged the lemonade for a ?sprite?. Immediately, no. It tasted like sparkling water. Came here for a NYE dinner with my friend. Upon arrival the host staff were very nice, they checked our coats. I really liked... the ambiance of the place. Very cute and cozy. I ordered this drink called the Real Housewives of Detroit. It was good. Weordered Brussel sprouts as an appetizer. They were a bit spicy which I didn?t mind since I like spice. As dinner I got themarket fish which was a trout with beets and horseradish sauce. Super tasty. My friend got the mushroom risotto which was alsosuper good. I also ordered a sweet red wine, it tastes like Stella Rosa to me so I wasn?t impressed. We also ordered dessert.My friend got an apple cake and I got a chocolate mousse parfait. Both super delicious. Before attending the resturant we wereskeptical about the limited menu but it ended up being a great experience. Vertical has become one of my favorite places to dine. Top of the line food, dining experience, and wait staff. Jamie was our... waiter, and he provided excellent service, and was very knowledgeable about the menu. From the moment you walk in, everythingis perfectly curated. Outstanding meal and service. This is a hidden gem in Detroit and you should check them out. Vast wine selection with a diverse... meal selection. We had the Super Trooper 2.0, Grilled Brussel sprouts (this is a house favourite with lime and queso fresco),tomahawk steak & the bruschetta. Great ambiance, service by all staff and specially Jamie (James - super knowledgeable, kind, onpoint recommendations). We had a wonderful time and I am sure you will too. This place is amazing! The food was sooooooo good and decadent. The service was friendly and highly efficient (shout out to... Jay!). Manager runs a well oiled machine (thank you Gordon :)).
