50$ wasted on food we had to trash. No refund or replacement. Our delivery order of two Alaska Deluxe rolls arrived with... wilted, darkened avocado and foul smelling fish. When we tried to contact the "Sauce" delivery service for a refund orreplacement, they told us that they can't help us and we have to contact the restaurant directly. Okay, we thought. So myhusband called Kokai Sushi restaurant, explained the issue and...they hanged up on him. He called again and they hanged upagain, this time right after picking the phone up. I would like to add that we both used to really like Kokai Sushi. The foodused to fresh and delicious. We would order through either Door dash or UberEATS (I don't remember which one I have both app).But this time those apps no longer carried this restaurant and we had to order through some "Sauce" delivery service - the onethat weren't able to help us anyhow when our order arrived foul today. I can't imagine Uber or Doordash refusing to provide helpwith such an issue and it makes me wonder if the restaurant switched to Sauce purposefully so they wouldn't have to be helpaccountable for poor service or poor food quality. We stopped in before heading to Ikea and it was a great decision! We didn’t know what we were in the mood for but saw this on... google and tried it out. The decor was so cute! I love the greenery, makes the restaurant feel homie. The food was veryfresh! We started with SAKE OR TUNA TARTAR Salmon or tuna, avocado, scallions in ponzu sauce ADEREZO DE ATUN Seared thin slicesof tuna with pepper in our house sauce The flavors were delicious and not fishy! As a sushi lover & worldwide tastings the sushi in this hidden gem was spectacular. Super fresh & flavorful. The soup was... excellent. The stars are 2 because waiter at first took a longer than reasonable time to assist, was nowhere around after thesushi was brought, drinks were finished & no one would look. Finally when waiter came out the chef saw me waiving & i could notfinish my roll because we had drank all the drink & water. It was late & place was not that full, wish i could have enjoyedsuch awesome sushi. I told the waiter kindly and he offered a free coke, but by then we just wanted to take the rest home. Read more
Delicious food, fresh, great service, great selection. Perfect atmosphere! Spectacular selection of food each time we visit!... UPDATE: Came back almost a year and a half later. Food good but very poor service. Ordered a glass of wine and then the foodarrived and then nobody came again. We flagged our waiter down to bring the check. Was in the area, and as I often do, search G.Maps to see what's good in this "hood". Kokai had the most positive reviews so... without hesitation I hit start on the directions. Actually got there just as they were opening. So got a great look at the placebefore anyone was seated. By the time my first appetizer arrived and the Iced Green Tea, the place was already showing signs ofa lunch buzz (and it was only 12:15 pm). Shrimp shumai was good as expected, with a twist of hot mustard on the plate. Theedamame came out steaming hot with the right amount of sea salt. And my ???? sushi was above expectation on presentation,flavors and portion. Overall great experience. Just a note... a lot, and I mean 95% of the sushi rolls have cream cheese in theingredients. I asked them to swap that out for avocado ???? in my roll. No problem for a $1 fee (which I don't even think theycharged me). It was just a bit surprising that I had to search for the 2 or 3 rolls that didn't have it and just ended upsubstituting it. Was very happy that it was an easy thing to ask for. Will go back to try some of their unique fusion sushi withmadura, as well as the latin-esque flavors. You will do a double-take as you hear a steady flow of beautiful Español in anAsian restaurant. But so goes the wonderful spectrum of our human experience. I stopped looking for "Authentic" Japanese, oranything ethnic with an original "face" in the kitchen decades ago. Three stars because service was good, but the wasabi taste like old tooth paste. My sashimi was thick uneven cuts. The white... fish was freezing cold and watery. Ehhh, won’t be back. My wife loved her cooked concoction sushi and another reason for thethree stars. If not it would have been 2 stars. I usually agree with other 5 star ratings but this was not what I expected….
