Very quiet for a Sunday afternoon. Ordered a Guinness and it was ice cold, asked for corned beef in rye corned beef, look and... tasted like leftovers, just chopped up fatty chunks on toasted bread. Green beans were smothered in garlic powder alsotrash. Will definitely look for another spot next time a have a craving for some Irish flare. Read more

Oh, the memories! Or lack there of. ha! BEST neighborhood bar with outstanding bartenders and speedy waitstaff. It?s been many... years since I?ve been back but it says something that I saved an old matchbox and often catch myself thinking about their livemusic and the many good times had under their roof for so many years! Miss you Ballydoyle! Read more

The food (Bangers and Mash) was great and portioned well. I tried their amaretto-whiskey cocktail and was disappointed with the... flavor, which was weak and watery. The cost was a bit high for an Irish place and service was very slow (though they were busy,to be fair). Live music was a nice add. Read more

Been a long time patron of Ballydoyles but in the last few months we haven?t had many positive experiences - mainly the amount... of time it takes for service. The servers themselves are great, friendly, and professional, but we have been there many timeswhere there are two or even just one server working. And the management seems to have no problem allowing every table to beused. The poor servers always seem to try but the table ratio is ridiculous. And the kitchen must also be short handed. Thelast time there it took 45 minutes to get both our first drink order and meal - which was wrong. The servers went out of theirway to visit each table during the wait but there was nothing they could do. We felt terrible for them. At a minimum, management should control how many tables get filled for everyone?s sake. The only manager we saw took more smoking breaks thanI?m sure the servers had of any breaks. I hope things change soon because it has been one of our go to places in DG. Read more

Having had the good fortune of visiting Pubs in Ireland, I truly appreciate the authenticity I experience here. The food is... spot on. The beverages are expertly poured, but the best part is the warm treatment from the staff. I encourage you to visit onSunday evenings to enjoy the traditional Irish music from very talented musicians. Read more

My wife and I stopped here for a late lunch after an outing with our dog. Because it was a beautiful day and we had the dog, we... decided to eat outside. Initially we were told by one of the bartenders that they weren't serving food outside yet due to citylicensing rules. So as were about to leave, a gentleman with glasses (sorry didn't get his name manager/owner?), asked us tostay, order and he would bring our food outside for us. The food did not disappoint and was enjoyed by all. Genuine servicelike that is what makes you want to come back to an establishment. And when we're in the area again, this is stop we'll make. Thanks it was greatly appreciated. Read more

This was a irish restaurant pub located in downtown downers grove. It wasn't bad but it was typical bar food, nothing fancy at... all. Took a while for our food to come out considering we got 2 sandwiches. Hate to say it but I wasn't impressed. The reubensandwich was very bland and not much flavor at all. The pretzels we good.
