This is the oldest operating McDonald's in the world originally opened in 1953. The point is ARCH DESIGN of the store. No... special menu nor more delicious than other branch. There is a small museum next to the store. McDonald's fanclub should visit! Read more
Worth a stop for a little taste of nostalgia served up with a side of golden fries. Such a fun piece of history...a walk up... counter with outdoor seating. Seating also available in the little pavilion that includes a memorabilia walk-thru. Read more
It was very nostalgic and the food seemed alot better then here in new york the staff was very friendly and inviting. Never had... such a delightful experience in a McDonald's before and to see all the item I remember in the past on display was so awesome.My kids also enjoyed it alot. The manger even gave my daughter (11 years old) a hat because he playfully offered a job. It waswell kept and also clean definitely an experience to visit the oldest McDonald's still around with a rich history. Read more
Well, like any other McDonald's, staff friendly,$$ pricing is getting high considering what they used to look like but it's... understandable,clean environment, fun to know that this is one of the only McDonald's that had its old nostalgic charm andappearance, food well again if you like Mickey d's well this would be a cool place to come with the family and qalk through themuseum part that pretty much opens everyday!! ???????????? This McDonald?s in Downey, CA was opened in 1953. Today, it is still operational and is officially the world?s oldest surviving... McDonald?s. It is even considered a tourist attraction complete with its own small museum and gift shop. At the time of itscreation and for several decades after, this McDonald?s was quite different from other existing McDonald?s outlets, as it wasthe only one that was franchised with the McDonald brothers and not with Ray Kroc, meaning it was not given any modernizationrequirements following Kroc?s takeover of the franchise. As such, it had a different menu and didn?t even implement the famousBig Mac into it. In 1990, it was finally taken under Kroc?s McDonald?s Corporation but then was damaged by the Northridgeearthquake in 1994. Due to all this, the corporation wanted to demolish it, but the outlet was listed on the National Trust forHistoric Preservations? 11 Most Endangered Historic Places that very year, causing many to demand that it was saved. Thecorporation eventually decided to restore and repair the restaurant and it reopened successfully. I think it's one of the onlyplaces where you can get an apple pie that is deep fried vice baked.
