I have been visiting this sushi place for a couple of years and have noticed that within the last 2-3 service and quality of... food has decreased. Today i was served miso soup two different times and both times it was room temperature or colder unlikebefore when it would be poured fresh from the pot. Teriyaki beef meat has also changed, and today the bento box was servedcompletely separate in different plates all on one big tray. Sushi was great as always but not too sure I'll be going back. Awesome service clean place. My son never eats at places like this one he?s 13 and we Ordered the spicy ramen soup and he loves... it my wife got like 4 different sushi plates and she loved them all my oldest daughter got sushi and loved it my youngestdaughter got dumplings and loved them and we got treated evenly like everyone else in the restaurant. Ordered calamari and the baked salmon roll. The sushi was good, exactly what you'd expect from a sushi restaurant in this city.... The calamari though, is the best I've had in Downey. Wherever they get their calamari from, or maybe how long they fry it for,not sure what it is, but it's better tasting than most of the sushi places in Downey. Nice little spot with a very chill ambiance. Vegetarian options were plentiful and delicious. All the rolls we tried were great,... but the sashimi was incredible. I used to go to Cerritos for about 10 years to a spot I really love, but Starfish Sushi has wonme over!! Great size, great price, great quality and a no brain choice.
