Moved to Kyle in April, and have been hearing about Hays City Store since day one. We finally made it in last night, while the... brother in law is in town. Had some beer and some 'ritas, of course some queso with home made chorizo, the GOAT Burger, theBacon Jam burger, kiddos cheeseburger and the GOAT pizza. Service was solid. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I liked thechips a lot. Their salsa is very tasty, and the chorizo in the queso is on point. To me, the pizza was the standout. Flavor,texture, all great. ???? I liked the burgers well enough. My only real criticism here was with them and it was simply that theywere more done then I'd have liked. And to be fair I didn't ask for them to be cooked any specific way, so it was my own fault.The toppings, both in quality and flavor, were very good. The pickles, which are clearly home made, are excellent. The lettuce,tomato and onion all looked gorgeous, were fresh and delicious. The fries and onion rings were also very good ???? Tried aflight of margaritas. They were refreshing, tasty, and definitely had tequila. You can't always tell with frozen drinks, so thatwas very welcome. Also we sat inside, due to Texas being ???? and it was good. They were very busy, which I hear is pretty muchthe norm, but it didn't feel chaotic or disorganized. Overall we loved it and will certainly be adding HCS to our rotation forsure! Oh yeah, last thought ???? we reserved a table ahead of time, which I highly recommend. Read more
Had a great experience here after leaving Saltlick with no food due to an untrained server and food allergies didn’t mix... . The GF buns here are great and the staff is knowledgeable about allergens. Completely turned our day around! We’ll ????stop here again! Read more

This place was perfect. I had been out on the water in San Marcos then marcos for most of the afternoon. Then on my way home I... passed by And thought this is perfect place to stop and get some food. Their menu is awesome. I've had their Margarita Flightsbefore And they are amazing. I decided to just get a strawberry Margarita this time. I'm not a huge fan of onion rings normallybut these were so crispy and fantastic. Got the chicken fried steak and it was absolutely perfect very tender. The mass potatoeswere spot on. And the jalapeno corn really surprised me at how good it was. I really can't think of anything negative about thisexperience. Will definitely be coming back and next time I'm gonna try the chicken fried chicken. Read more
Hays City Store is hands down my FAVORITE place to visit when I'm in the Hill Country. The food is consistently delicious, the... drinks always cold, and the outdoor area is the perfect final touch. Oh... and if there's live music happening, that's a hugebonus! My kids love it because of the green space (love the new turf) and ring hook game. They also love dancing to the music. Flavor: B Service: B Tea: B Solo dining: B I drove up to this place and saw all the cars in the satellite parking lot and... thought this is going to take a while. But I was pleasantly surprised. I was seated right away and got my appetizer soonthereafter. The queso was flavorful but lukewarm and clumpy. The bacon jam burger was a great creation but the burger Pattyitself was bland as can be. Even with the best toppings, the burger itself still has to taste good for me to love it. But thestar of the show was the onion rings - uniquely flavored and perfectly battered with delicious homemade ranch as the perfectcomplement. Such a chill place. I told my brother I wanted something away from the city and his recommendation did not disappoint. Believe... it or not, the surprise champion of the evening was the bean dip! So good! The wings were okay. The barmaid was incredible. Wewill definitely be returning ! Read more
