Pretty good food, had the brisket and turkey and they were juicy and delicious. Also the bbq sauces are great. The sides are... pretty mediocre at best. Coleslaw was pretty bad. The potato salad was better but even the beans are pretty flavourless. Wewaited 2 hrs to be seated. Would i eat their brisket again? Yes! Would i wait 2 hrs again to eat here? Nope. Pretty good but notwait 2 hrs good. Read more

Salt Lick is kind of a fast food BBQ. They offer a family style dining experience. They offer an all you can eat option as... well.. we ordered off the senior menu, portion size was just right. The brisket was good (not great), pork rib came covered inbbq sauce. I prefer to get the option to sauce or not. Their turkey was the best of what we tried. Food came very quick. Itried the cobbler 1/2 & 1/2 (peach & blackberry) neither were worth writing home about. Read more

A couple of friends and I drove up from San Marcos to try out this BBQ spot that everyone has been raving about and I?ll tell... you it was well worth the drive! It was our first time ever eating at Salt Lick and our server Ashley was very welcoming andinformative. She was very attentive to all our needs. Thank you Ashley for your amazing service. Family friendly environment.Indoor and outdoor seating available with live music. Very fun experience! For my entree I got the Salt Lick Pork Ribs Plateand I have NO REGRETS! So flavorful and juicy! It had my taste buds screaming! You didn?t even need to top it off with sauce! They have a generous amount of food and whose going to complain about that!? Ended the meal with the half and half peach cobblerwhich was the perfect way to end our night. Highly recommend on going! All round amazing experience. Read more

Absolutely the most amazing BBQ I?ve every eaten! It?s only the best at the main Slat lick in Drift Wood TX. Just west of Austin... in the middle of nowhere, lies one of Texas? hidden gems! All you can eat! You better go hungry because you can keep the ribs, brisket, chopped beef, sliced turkey, coleslaw, & tater salad coming one after another or all at the same time. Truly a one of akind experience to enjoy some Texas BBQ! Read more

Fun place! I liked the brisket and pulled pork. Sausage was also tasty. Unique Asian zing Cole slaw was very good. Bring your... own beers, or buy them next door. Clean and comfortable, inside and out. Very nice staff! Read more

We arrived at 8pm during public holidays, and the wait time was about a hour. We decided to take out and eat in their picnic... area. It turned out that they had live music in the picnic area and was a very fun night! The food was amazing - we tried to 3meat plate, and both meat and side dishes were delicious. They also sold BBQ rub powder, and it?s actually also pretty good onany kind of meat prep at home. Overall, we really enjoyed the dinner here! Read more

So I read that this the best BBQ place in Texas and figured that was just a marketing line. I was wrong, easily the best BBQ... I?ve had in Texas and likely anywhere else I?ve ever been. The meat is phenomenal, especially the burnt tip pork. Tender andjuicy with a lot of flavor. The cole slaw is just the way I like it, vinegary with no mayonnaise. The space is very open andinviting and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Best of all, we ordered and the food magically appeared almostimmediately. This is worth the drive and next time we?re in Austin, we?ll be going to The Salt Lick. Read more

Hands down the best meat eating experience I've had in US so far. Beware of a few stuff though. There is typically a waiting... time of about an hour and a half with no reservation systems in place. You in there, check-in in a booth with a person jottingdown your name and number. You gotta wait in the many sitting arrangements outside until you get a text from them confirming itsyour turn. Secondly, they only accept cash for payments and tips. Make sure you get at least $30 in cash for each person to beon the safe side. I've had the Thurman's Choice which is a plate consisting of Pork Ribs, Brisket, and Sausage with sides ofbeans, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw. It is a huge plate and enough for one person. Everything was spot on and easily the bestBBQ experience I've had in my lifetime. My friends had shredded beef sandwiches which were huge in size and enough for oneperson. The beef were smoky, juicy, and perfect in every sense of the word! Read more
