Great home cooking in Dripping Springs close to the historic downtown area. Everything was very fresh and tasty. The venue is... small, comfortable and cozy. They light the fireplace in the winter and on cold Texan days like today (35F) it was a perfectplace for a day date! We ordered deviled eggs and wings were delicious and crispy with a smoky flavor. The fried buffalochicken sandwich was fantastic! If you like veggies, ask to substitute them for fries. The medley of green beans was deliciouslyseasoned and a welcomed option aside from fries. Their cozy bar makes a variety of great cocktails with local dripping springsvodka and has a surprising selection of whiskeys. If you prefer, I heard their Bloody Marys are filling and delightfullyTangy! In the spring and summer, you can eat outside with the kids. They have a small swing set. Although the place is tight,so please make sure your kids can behave so as not to disturb other patrons. I would say this is a Texan- Southern home cookingvibe! Next time, we will come specifically for wine and dessert! Adult goals are important and vital to have;) !! Add HomespunKitchen to your adult goal list too! Read more

Good lunch, good food, good bar. The chicken fried steak was on point, but not as big as I expected. I had an Old Fashion to... wash it down, good job, but traditionally, it should be served with the big ice cube. For the price, no details should bespared. Check out the photo, it is a beautiful drink. Read more

Really nice casual lunch, loved sitting out back with the fans. Service was prompt and on point, the food was great. I got the... chicken salad sandwich which I had no expectations of but was surprised how good it was! The fruit with it was fresh, I lovewhen the simple details are considered. My husband enjoyed the steak burger and fries. Oh, and the strawberry lemonade waslovely! Read more

A nice local restaraunt with a 4 stool bar, lots of vib and great food. Sat inside to enjoy the ambience. I tried the shrimp'n... grits dish and was quite empressed with the presentation and taste. Super flavorful. I also sampled the fried steak. Verysatisfying and the thing was larger than a bull riders belt buckle! A great choice when visiting this locale. Read more

Seemed small and rustic, and the AC was hardly working. Sitting indoors was probably worse than the outdoor heat. BUT the food... was excellent! The deviled eggs, lettuce wraps, chicken fried chicken were perfectly prepared and so delicious. Nice portions(although eggs could have been large or extra large, not medium eggs, for the price). The cocktails were lovely, but thedesserts?! OMG, the key lime pie and the chocolate cake were exceptional! I would order both for pick up for specialoccasions! The wait staff were very busy, but as efficient as they could be and friendly. (Had THREE young hostesses doing verylittle and seemed to be crowding the entryway.) All in all a great restaurant and a nice surprise. Just please invest in a goodAC system. Read more

Excellent southern food. I had the chicken fried steak and really enjoyed it. Could have been cooked a minute less honestly, but... the taste was perfect. Amazing fried pickles and jalapeños. My girlfriend had the grilled chicken burger and really enjoyedit. Cocktails were great too! We walked in, though reservations are recommended. All of the servers seemed great except oneguy who took a long time to check up on us. Our only complaint. But it doesn't take away from the place! I hope to go back nexttime I'm in town. Read more

So after reading a lot of the reviews on this place my wife and I were hesitant to try it. We decided to give it a go anyway... and can confirm most of the complaints in the reviews are very true. #1 Make sure you make a reservation. #2 Prepare for a waitof 10 minutes ± after being seated to get your drink order taken. #3 Seating inside is very cramped and slightlyclaustrophobic. Our server was nice as was the hostess, so +1 for that. My wife had the Grilled Shrimp Tostadas appetizerpictured above. This was a $15 dollar appetizer, that in her words was "Fantastic, it was the perfect bite size with a greatmelding of flavors. The chipotle mayo set it off perfectly and it was absolutely worth the $15." For our meal we both had theChicken Fried Steak. This rings in at around $19 each. The sides served with it were the Garlic Mashed Potatoes and SauteedSquash, Zucchini & Onion. Adding a little salt and pepper to the plate made the sides delicious. The Chicken Fry itself, unfortunately, was overdone for both of us. Not only was the breading overly crunchy instead of crispy and flakey but there wereliteral black areas that were too hard to bite into. The Gravy had a homemade flavor and needed a bit of salt as well. I getthat the ingredients are sourcef locally and they are trying to deliver high quality dishes here and the price tag reflectsthat, but part of the understanding there is that you know how to prepare those ingredients appropriately and bring out theflavors. This is where Homespun failed on the Chicken Fry. We will likely try it again sometime down the road but it will be awhile and hopefully there will be some changes. Read more
