I had to drive to Dubuque, 2 hours away from where I live. It was the closest place where I could find a part I needed for my... vehicle. When looking at the map, I just saw this place nearby and I thought, I have got to try that! My name is Joe so Ithought that's cool. Then when I saw the pictures on the reviews, there's something called the "Taco Joe". I happen to work atTaco Bell and one of my nicknames is Taco Joe. I thought, no way! I need to go here if for no other reason than to get picturesto show my boss. . We got a Taco Joe pizza and a couple of drinks. The pizza was absolutely the best I probably have ever hadas far as taco pizza is concerned. It was so delicious! The gentleman who took my order was super friendly and helpful, answereda few questions I had since it was my first time there. My girlfriend and I very much enjoyed the meal. The atmosphere isabsolutely amazing. High energy, just a fun, friendly feeling in the air. Apparently it's kind of a family/kids type place.Twice while we were there, birthdays were announced and the entire restaurant was asked to sing happy birthday to the birthdaypeople. The first was a young guy, maybe late teens or early 20s, the second was a 4 year old girl. Their respective waitressestooted loud horns to get our attention and made the announcement and request to sing, and most of us did. It was prettyfun! The men's room was very clean. I didn't have my 2 year old granddaughter with me this day, but it was nice to see that ifI had, and she needed a diaper change, there is a changing station in the men's room. That's becoming more common overall, butmany independent restaurants like this one still haven't added them to men's rooms so it's always nice to see. I willdefinitely be coming back here again. I don't care if I have to come alone, I need to try other menu items. I said mygranddaughter is 2, but technically she will be 2 in January. Perhaps I'll try talking her parents into celebrating it here. Th Read more

Happy Joe's has always and will always have the Taco Pizza that wins all awards. They have never strayed from their original... recipe. For that, they will be successful. I ordered it twice (along with other toppings on another pizza) twice in as manydays. And, yes, it absolutely was worth it. The restaurant stays family friendly and has kept and old school feel which makesit special for me. Read more

Headed to Dubuque for an birthday dinner and dates with my fiancé. We decided on a whim to go to Happy Joe's for pizza. We had... such a fantastic time! The owner and management team definitely went above and beyond to ensure we had a great diningexperience. After arriving somewhat close to their dining room close they let us stay and enjoy our food and even re-opened theice cream counter so we could enjoy some dessert!! This was the best Happy Joe's experience I've ever had and will definitely bereturning in the future!!! Thank you guys for an awesome dinner! Read more

Very disappointing. They changed the recipe (or ingredient brands) for the crust. This used to be one of the best pizza in the... world! I would get it multiple times everytime I visited and could never get enough! Now it's just decent pizza, butconsidering it was one of the best ever, its just very disappointing for long time fans now. If you never had it before thenits still one of the better pizza options in town but I'll be going to Marco's from now on. RIP the era of Happy Joes beingunstoppably delicious and addictive. We came in later than we should have and the staff insisted that everything was fine. Got great service and the pizza was done... well not rushed. But the interior of this place will take you back to when a birthday at Happy Joe?s was when you were a kid. What a great way to finish a road trip to head down memory lane once again. Read more

Family road trip and we found this really cool pizza and ice cream parlor! The pizzas here are amazing and super unique- BLT,... NACHO, TACO PIZZA... the vibe is old school dinner and vintage games. The ice cream specials are root bear floats and ice creamsoda and they are delicious! If you are ever in the Dubuque area or driving by it, stop here. Don't even think twice. Can't waitto come back here! Thank you Happy Joe! May your legacy love on! Read more

Happy Joe's is always a must-do when we're in the Dubuque area. It has remained consistent since my first visit 40+ years ago! ... If you have never been, the Taco Joe and Happy Joe's Special (Canadian bacon and sauerkraut) are THE BEST! Read more
