I?m from Minneapolis, and I?ve visited Duluth twice. Northern Waters is legendary among my friends, and everyone told us to... visit Northern Waters when they heard we were visiting Duluth. The first time I visited, I ordered the clubhaus, because I?m nota huge salmon fan. It was pretty good, but my partner works at a sandwich shop in St Paul, and I prefer their Turkey club. Thesecond time I visited, I decided to push myself, and I ordered a fish sandwich. I ordered the great summer caper, which was astretch for me, because I?ve never had bagel and lox. It was absolutely fantastic. The flavors melded together perfectly, and Idevoured it. My partner got the Cajun Finn with added cilantro and sriracha. I had a bite, and it was spectacular as well.Needless to say, I should?ve ordered fish from Northern Waters from the get go. I?ve never had such delicious salmon in my life.I?m a convert. This was a very good restaurant, but it?s important to know that there is no indoor seating available. Also, it can take a while... to get your order particularly if you go during a busy lunch. Our group of six adults waited about 35 minutes to get our order.That said, it was exceptionally good and well crafted. Hands down, my favorite place for sandwiches and smoked salmon ever. I dream about the Pastrami Mommy and Cajun Salmon. Their... pancetta is fantastic, too. My dad loves the Cold Turkey Sandwich and everyone loves the Cajun Finn sandwich. Online ordering issuper easy, or you can order at the counter. The food here is very unique but well done and worthwhile. We ordered the salami plate and a half of a whitefish to go. It was... my first time eating smoked whitefish and it was delicious. The flavors were good and the food was fresh. There were long waittimes to getting your food so we walked around the area which was a delight. This is a must visit place!! Read more
This place is phenomenal! After walking around Canal Park, we stopped here for lunch. The food is incredibly delicious. During... the pandemic, they are only taking orders over the phone or online, but you can still seat nearby and enjoy your food. My sisterand I got a table outside and just waited for about 15 minutes to get our food. They don't exactly alert you to when it's ready,but you can just check the finished orders outside their door. Stopped by on a whim while making the drive from Minneapolis to Grand Marais, and had to leave a review because the food is... truly great. For a place that specializes in smoked meats and fish (things I?m not particularly crazy about) to also make someof the best sandwiches I?ve had is something special. The Cedar?s Secret was perfectly balanced in flavor, saucy, and on thesoftest naan bread. My fiancé loved his pastrami sandwich as well. Definitely stop by if you?re in Duluth! Read more
