It as a lovely drive out in the country to get to the farm and it does not disappoint. Small but quaint farmhouse with most... tables outside. Since it was quite hot, we appreciate the outdoor seating. The view is stunning and the chickens clucking nearto our table added to the ambiance. The menu is pretty basic but much of it is made with food grown on the farm. Salads,burgers, soups and pizza and delicious desserts. Very friendly staff and the service is pretty good. It was very busy while wewere there, so we went in and helped ourselves to water and cutlery. The pizza was wonderful. Thin crust with greatingredients. Not over the top Cheesy or doughy. My friends had the strawberry/rhubarb crumble, bumbleberry pie and the Pavlova.I had a taste of each and they were top notch. The pavlova, pictured in this review was divine. I don't much like Meringue, butthis definitely surprised me with it's light taste. Perhaps it was the blueberries and sauce covering the meringue, which soldit for me! A perfect combination of amazing food, outstanding views over the valley and gardens, and laid backed comfort. Limited weekend... hours make this a popular off the beaten track find. Homemade pizza, and a varying menu that can accommodate some food limitssuch as gluten free. Alderlea was out of Kombucca and had no milk alternatives for someone with a milk alternative. I don't know how anyone could give this anything but 5 stars. It's a true and authentic farm to table venue. Excellent food,... wood fire pizzas are amazing ???? I have dietary constraints and always feel embarrassed or skeptical that my order will bebotched in busy kitchens. Never with Alderlea! Not only does it come out awesome, I never have an upset tummy :) When friendsand family come into town and ask where to eat, if they want something local, authentic, organic, or just an amazing atmosphere- hands down Alderlea! I just love this place. It?s a rare trip to Vancouver Island that I don?t visit. The food is all farm-to-table fresh, and made... with love. Tip: Always save room for dessert.
