I've gone about 5 times over the past two years and each time is really good. Last time I ordered the chicken and waffles and it... was the best fried chicken I've ever had. Incredibly limited menu of OK enough food taste-wise, but nothing special really. What was most off-putting about this place... was the owner of Clark's: He hovers around every table peppering off pretty personal questions (e.g.where do you live in town,what grade are your kids in, how long have you been here, etc.) all the while as he drinks his beverage while standing over atable of strangers eating their meals as he kept complaining to patrons about his staffing shortages (note - the wait staff wasactually really good and plentiful in numbers); it's not like we didn't just sort of exit out of a 2+ year long pandemic to havelearned how to observe personal space especially while eating. We definitely will not be going back especially between that andthe really awkward, multiple unsolicited statements the owner directed at our child requesting him to get us to bring him backto the restaurant; jokingly-ish of course, but it was already so uncomfortable at that point it seems this guys knows nothingabout running a restaurant or creating a comfortable guest experience. No. Way. Will. We. Return. Owner of Clarks payattention now: No need to respond to this message and in fact ask you to not so the experience doesn't become more uncomfortableand awkward; just focus on improving the flaws that were identified. The food at Clark's American Bistro is amazing! I've had Sunday brunch, lunch, and dinner there on numerous occasions and every... time the food has been absolutely incredible. The staff is always kind and prompt. Even on the busiest days they areprofessional and apologetic for even the smallest wait. Even if the wait is 20 minutes, the great food and fantastic staff makeit well worth it. I highly recommend this place to anybody in Durham! Read more
We ordered the usual stuff: burgers, fish ?n? chips, fries?.and it was not so good. Overall, food was bland and tasteless?all of... it. The lifeless fries were a strange brown colour, like the oil in the fryer wasn?t changed. The fish was just OK and thecoleslaw was limp, as in soggy and old tasting, and again, without flavour! Wow. Just wow! Amazing. The kids mac and cheese is not just the usual Kraft like most restaurants which is phenomenal! The mac... and cheese pulled pork was incredible and they're pulled pork sandwich was top-notch as well! Read more
Phenomenal. I would give more stars if I could. I had the GLUTEN-FREE fried chicken club sandwich. They have a separate fryer... for GF items and are very cognizant of allergies. Service was amazing. Food was amazing. My kid said he wants to live there. Idon't blame him. I kind of want to live there. The Wildcat Martini was amazing. Will definitely be back. Read more
Nice family owned restaurant. Close to UNH (walking distance). They told us that it would be a 25 minute wait, but it was more... like 10 minutes which was nice! They also text you when there is a table ready so you don?t have to wait inside the restaurant.I got a salad and French fries which was average tasting. Another member of my party got chicken tenders, and he said that theywere very dry. I didn?t try them so I?m not 100% sure. Kind of a long wait for food, and they didn?t seem very busy, but theycould?ve been short on staff or something. Good prices for what you are getting. Read more
