I had so much fun at Alley Twenty Six. A great place to go with friends or a date... Anniversary, etc... The vibe is awesome... and upscale, the service was great and the food and drink were exquisite, creative and smart. As a New Yorker who transplantedto NC a decade ago, I felt like I was back in Greenwich Village and the cafe lifestyle of NYC. Downtown Durham is the real dealand Alley Twenty Six is its flagship. It’s really nice when local institutions live up to the hype! I was impressed with our drinks and the standard of service, but... absolutely wowed by our food. I got the burger on a whim, it’s easily among the best in an area with steep competition. Kudosto the kitchen! Read more
To be honest Alley twenty six popped up on my radar before the James Beard, but that just solidified my desire to go. Spoiler,... it did not disappoint. Tropical themed cocktails to start off, delicious. Pork katsu, perfectly cooked. If you ask for mediumrare on your burger, expect a cool pink center because the kitchen knows what they're doing. They were out of pineapple upsidedown cake, but we were treated with a little taste from the bar as compensation for our perceived loss by Ben, our amazingserver. All in all a lovely experience. SO we had the Heirloom Tomatoes and The Bone Marrow small plates plus the Long Weekend Drink: sooo good. It was perfect to split... when you're not too hungry but can munch on something. And the drink wasn't sweet but it was refreshing like mojito-esque. Plusit's in a nice walking area. Read more

Fantastic cocktail bar! Our server, Willie "B" was the best offering excellent recommendations based on our alcohol of choice.... The chef board and devil eggs are must with two, three rounds of cocktails. Ask about "whiskey Wednesdays". Read more
What a unique and fantastic restaurant! 80% of their seating is outdoor in a private Ally (hints the name). Their libations and... liquor selection is impressive as is their waitstaff. Collin was our waiter and let me tell ya... for a man working with 1 arm(other is in a sling) he was as nimble and balanced as an octopus. His knowledge of the restaurant, their drinks, and food wasrefreshing. He even made off the menu drink recommendations and knew exactly how I wanted my bourbon... near with ice on theside. The sunset in the Ally is amazing and well worth the trip alone. Make a reservation as this place can be harder to getinto without one. Go check them out! Read more
Bustling place for a variety of drinks, primary. Small menu for food - would highly encourage owners to broaden up the small... plates selections, as this place is so drink-centric and this will take pressure off the kitchen.
