Great location, vibe, and staff. The food is just ok. Not memorable, nor did anything have us saying to each other, ‘You gotta... try this.” The Doughnuts were nice. But my Fried Fish and Grits (not really grits) needed some help in the flavor department. The pancakes were heavy, and the burger was overcooked blah. It was a Saturday morning rush, so perhaps that didn’t help. Andour server was a bit fluttered. I probably won’t go back with so many other brunch options. Read more

Wonderful food and gracious service! We were looking for something fun to do and made our way to downtown Durham for the... evening. We ran across Jack Tar and the Colonel’s Daughter and they were able to seat our party of 4 at the bar right away onbusy Saturday evening. It turned out great! We enjoyed watching all of the lovely dishes coming together. The menu is small butmighty- we all enjoyed our dinners- the pork chop, schezuan hot chicken, and double cheeseburger all got 2 thumbs up! And thehush puppy appetizer was great, as well! Read more

Great place for brunch. If you go with a group, be sure to try the homemade crullers. You really can't mess with anything on the... menu. Just know they are super busy and low on staff. Your food will come quickly but you won't see a server very often. Thecocktail menu has some unique twists on favorites. Read more

The food came out quickly and looked great. Food runner offered me hot sauce and brought a couple fore to choice from. Raven was... very attentive and noticed my eggs were not how I ordered them without me even mentioning it. The drinks available were veryinteresting flavor combinations and pretty. There is a fair wage fee, it doesn't bother me I just wish food would just be moreexpensive rather than have a separate fee. I'm sure the servers get a lot of angst about it. Read more

Excellent food! The location was in a nice spot in downtown Durham which is always a good thing. Most importantly, the food was... excellent! I had the Mother and Child reunion for brunch and it was incredible! It was kind of like an eggs benedict but withbiscuits and a giant piece of fried chicken (which was the best I've had in a long time!) and it was fantastic! I didn't expectto go here for brunch but I'm glad I came in. Read more

Stopped here as a recommended by my brother and it was incredible! For a Saturday morning, we only had to wait about 7 mins for... seats (for 4 people). Everything we ate was amazing. I had the migas and my husband had the chicken and biscuits. My kidsenjoyed the pastries. The service was outstanding. Nice people, great food, highly recommend! Read more

Excellent breakfast spot. We loved the mother and child reunion, the Julia Child omelette and the fresh-squeezed OJ (the machine... is right there in the dining area!). They should let customers choose the oranges from a basket. The portions are generous anddelicious. We will be back. Read more

Went for Sunday brunch. Place was busy but not too busy so we were seated promptly and the order was taken at a reasonable time.... Food came out quickly and we enjoyed our meal. Mine was a taco thing that I forgot what the name was and my gf got the chickenand eggs. we also ordered a side of hash brown. The reason for 4 instead of 5 was due to a mistake on the server. She chargedthe wrong table for my card so they had to go back and fix it. Other than that it was good. Read more
