Order inside at the... counter, find a table inside or out and they will deliver your food to you. A variety of hot sauces inside to sample with cupsto fill to take back to your table. We stopped by today for a quick lunch and ended up staying about 3 hours just for the fun atmosphere. The food was great, but... Anthony and Ron definitely livened up the place with great conversation and some fun music. The beer selection was perfectlycrafted and we each had several that we enjoyed. My family was visiting me and wanted to have some BBQ, so we decided to try this place. After ordering we waited 45 minutes for... our food, and only 2 out of the 4 meals were right. We tried to explain the situation to the man who took our order behind thecounter. We were very understanding that they were short staffed and was just hoping to have the order corrected. Instead thatman was snippy with us and said “I sent out four plates” and was confused why we wanted the correct order. We gave him thereceipt showing him how wrong the order was and he was still rude to us! A true man-Karen! My meal was one of them which wasmessed up and it took over an hour to get my food out. When it finally came out, I had to put on so much hot sauce to actuallymake it taste alright. The man-Karen offered to refund my meal yet never did (I didn’t initiate asking for the refund, butmaybe he realized how rude he was and was trying to save-face). I’m embarrassed that this is the memory my family has ofDurham, since it painted the picture of rude hospitality and disgusting sanitation (almost all the tables inside and under theshaded patio were full of dishes & the bathrooms resembled gas station bathrooms). I'm in Town for Work And Have been eating out Every Night to different restaurants.. We walked up to this Place one day Because... it is only 2 blocks from My Hotel.. Located in Durham N.C, Mavericks is Very good, with an excellent music selection playing. They have wonderful decor inside with... huge garage doors that they open when weather permits. They serve Texas, Carolina and Tennessee style of BBQ with the same styleof sauces. I ordered the brisket with the Texas sauce. The Mac and cheese I ordered was made with Wisconsin white cheadercheese. The hush puppies are really good and served with honey flavored butter. Very good barbecue. The sauces were especially tasty. Very good customer service as well. The owner was friendly and helped... customers pick something they’d like. Good for a quick lunch. Only complaint is the brisket was a tad on the dry side. Thepulled pork and ribs were very good, especially with the Memphis style sauce. I’d recommend for anyone looking for some bbqlunch! Read more
