My 1st visit in 2019 wasn't a good experience, after hearing the hype this year I thought I'd give them a another try. My wife... and I ordered the catfish and shrimp platters and the honey puppies. Total $52 Catfish appeared to be burnt, perhaps from beingcooked in old cooking oil. Fish was extremely salty like my previous visit. The shrimp were just ok. The honey puppies appearedto be frozen hushpuppies with a drizzle of honey. I didn't like them at all. Certainly not worth $4.00. For $52 I expect to beserved and not called to the window to pick up my order. They even give u the option to leave a tip at the cashier. A tip forwhat? There is no service after u pick up your order. I worked as a chef for 24 years, so my review is based off my jobexperience. Read more

I thought l was eating fried fish, you know the kind your grandma fry in her hot kitchen? I wasn't...this is seafood with a... twist and if you like old recipes jazzed on up then stop in for a taste. You may love it. Me? I'd rather have my grandma's goodole' plain fried fish... The service was friendly, the facility was clean including the bathroom, good parking, outside eatingarea, and good location ???? Read more

Finally got a chance to visit and taste their wonderful seafood. Clean and very efficiently run. I had the Oyster (fried)... platter and it was delicious and a very large order. I did not count but I would say at least a dozen wonderful and tenderoysters. The slaw and homemade sauces were also very good. I recommend stopping by and dining in. Looking forward to anothervisit. Please remember to tip these fine folks. ???? Read more

Was super excited to get here in time to try my favorite fried seafood dishes. I wasn't a fan of the tarter sauce but the clam... roll and shrimp rolls were delicious. The trout was 80% seasoned perfectly but was a little over seasoned at times. Read more

Absolutely amazing fried trout! So much flavor, loved the seasonings. I wanted to get the fried oysters but it was sold out when... I got there. Not much of service, but lots of seating. Parking lot was almost full when I was there but people in and out quick,so not that bad. Definitely will come back for more and hopefully can get fried oysters next time Read more

We were so excited about Chef Ricky Moore winning the James Beard Award! We had to try it because we are a local business and... wanted to support this win for the Bull City! We treated our team to lunch at the SaltBox. It was immaculately clean and hadseating inside and outside. Carmen took our order and she was super friendly, helpful, and kind. She loved her co-workers andthey made us the best lunch! We tried the hush honeys, and fried cauliflower, and we loved the grouper bites, flounder, andshrimp plates. ALL of them were perfectly seasoned, tender-crisp and the coleslaw was fresher than cold water on a hot day! Wasthat a hint of citrus? We will return and are so proud of this local restaurant!! Coming from Virginia Beach, VA on the way home to SC. We did a simple Google search for a fish camp and this place was the 1st... to come up. Had great reviews and didn't disappoint. Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Very clean "hold in the wall"establishment. Good lemonade sweet tea. I would visit again if in the area. Read more
