Reviews for Sitar Indian Cuisine in Durham, NC

This is one of the best restaurants in Durham. The food is outstanding and if you're not familiar with Indian cuisine, the... buffet will give you a good tour of well-labeled options that are fresh and delicious. For a special treat though, please orderoff the menu because the dishes stand out. I could be imagining it, but everything tastes better when ordered off the menu. Also if you have special requests like extra spicy or less spicy, this is the best way to accommodate you. Also make it a pointto try every dish, some dishes I've only seen in this restaurant and they are all fantastic. If you're fond of the buffet-styleeating though, your meal will be fast and incredibly delicious, and a good value. The family that runs Sitar have got to be themost friendly and helpful group of people ever. They remember you after only a few visits and are always glad to greet you byname when you're a regular. Food is great. Portions are large. Nice, big open area. Great variety of choices.

Multiple issues with our lunch visit here - 1. The food was all in all horrible. Either too salty or no salt at all. 2. The hot... masala tea we ordered was served cold and was stale. 3. The masala dosa we ordered didn't have an ounce of "masala". Besides, itwas drenched in oil and they added bell peppers to a masala dosa. Interesting recipe. See attached picture. Overall, it was avery bad experience. We don't recommend this restaurant. Read more

I love Indian food and have been wanting to try this place for the longest! My friend recently treated me to dinner here, and I... loved it! He got food from their buffet, which I didn't feel comfortable with given that we're still in a pandemic so I opted toorder from the menu. I've also never really been fond of buffets. I ordered the fish malabar, which was SPECTACULAR! It was alot of food so I only ate half of it and finished the rest the next day for lunch. They have many options to choose from, andyou can always stick with what they have at the buffet. My friend really liked it. This is the perfect place for a date night orto enjoy quality time with friends. They have ample parking, a nice view from the window where we sat, and they sometimes havelive music, which we will likely go back for. The staff were kind, and their food is reasonably-priced. This is the best Indianfood I've had in the Triangle area so I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you try it! Read more

My husband and I recently relocated to the Raleigh/Durham area and were looking for a restaurant to make our regular and we... found it. This place is AWESOME! Tasty food, friendly and professional staff, great atmosphere and they have a buffet. Weordered both to go and tried the buffet, and both were delicious. I really like their dosa, tandoori chicken and chicken tikkamasala. The buffet was fresh and had many choices. I definitely recommend this restaurant. We will be back again soon! Read more

Very good.. I went for the lunch buffet. They had rices, different flavored chicken or fish, mixed vegetables, cooked potatoes... in vegetables, fried vegetables, naan bread, salad, rice pudding and different sauces to add if you like. That doesn't soundlike much for a buffet but I think it was perfect and all of the dishes were delicious. The chicken meat was white meat chunksof great quality. I agree that the spice level was just right, not to hot but a warm spice that lasts. If you like hotter theyhad hot sauces to add. I also had sweet tea and water both of which tasted clean and refreshing. I am very glad that they have alunch buffet and more so that it includes high quality chicken meat dishes. I recommend this restaurant. Read more

The quality of food is not good at all. We ordered Sitar special with expectation to be the best of their dishes. We get paneer... with watery sauce and extra food color. After dinner, I end up washing my hands three times and still unable to get ride of foodcolor. I hope the owner pays more attention to the quality. Read more

In town visiting for work. Was pleasantly surprised on a lunch break to find this gem. I had read previous reviews about... blandness and really couldn’t disagree more. Plenty of spice and flavor profiles seasoned just right. Now was it hot no butthey had sauces and options to add heat as needed. The atmosphere both on the outside and inside were pleasant and welldecorated. There was plenty of indoor seating and the patio looks like it was just renovated with good landscaping as well. Foodwise I was impressed with everything I ate minus maybe the dessert the rice pudding isn’t really my thing but it was just ok.The tandoori, the chana, and chicken korma was the groups favorites. Would definitely come back! Cheers!! Read more
