This was our second dining in here, but today it was a quick decision (8 yo son decided to have his favourite chilli chicken,... sorry no photo clicked). And, I tried their signature dish *Thali* (vegetarian) and I thoroughly enjoyed. As you see in thepicture we get three gravies, raitha, and rice+naan or rooti, a samosa+chatni and two desserts, a great protion and varietiesyou could see in one plate (so called, Thali). The taste reminded me of my days at Punjab, authentic dhaal! I had to complementthe owner lady. We will go again for sure and try more dishes and cute little place in a perfect spot. They have buffets on samedays that I need to try, and enjoyed dhaba-style chicken gravy (very basic home-style) earlier. Read more

I rarely give bad review. But their birani was awful. Rice was half cooked. No flavor. Don?t know it?s their one time mistake or... not. The quantity of veg thali was huge. But none of those items were good. And I had stomach ache after eating it. Read more

I was not impressed with the food. Tried chicken biryani and paneer butter masala with naan. For the price, the food was pretty... average. Nothing that makes me wanna go back again. Service was fine, the owner was very sweet and welcoming. Had only the foodbeen decent, it would have been golden. Read more

I was in the mood for Indian food and decided to check this place out. The food was excellent. I was unsure of what to get so... o ordered the Thali meal which included a little bit of everything. If you don't know what to order or want to taste a bit ofeverything I recommend going with the Thali meal. Read more

We wanted to relish a Thali kind of meal since long time. Specially when you don?t want to cook and someone can offer the spread... all that you wanted to enjoy..! We visited this restaurant yesterday with our beloved family.. and their service just stole ourheart. The owner Lovely ji and her Brother was so humble so welcoming right from the time we called to get the table bookeduntill we stepped out from the restaurant. Being a chef by passion I know how much love and dedication and hardwork ( withoutany shortcuts ) it needs to prepare a crowd pleasing finger licking food. And I can bet that there was no shortcut taken whilepreparing the food. Even the tomato?s were freshly chopped and cooked and no readymade kind of purée. We had ordered veg andnon veg thali .. each and every item was so perfect in taste, texture, hot fresh and finger licking. For the first time wefinished everything served on plate. ???? it was that delicious.. bilkul Oil free ? purely Ghar ka Khana ? ?? they also servetypical Punjabi food .. Amtrisari kulcha , mouth watering PUNJABI chole Bhature and so on and on.. they served with so much oflove and respect that will definitely go back and back to them. It was ghar ka garma garam khana .. no jokes ???? Do yourself afavor and visit this lovely restaurant known as Thali Indian Restaurant, Durham. The service is unmatched. The staff truly caresabout your experience. The food is absolutely amazing ? everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best dine inmeal we had since long. Highly recommend! I have been wanting to come to Thali Indian Restaurant for quite some time now. And finally made the trip from Wake forest... area to grab some take out for the whole family. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Goat Curry, Basil Chicken Curry & PalakPaneer. Chicken Tikka Masala, xtra spicy, I enjoyed it too much. It was just the right amount of spicy that other familymembers can have some. I could have told them make it ?Back Home Indian Village type extra extra spicy? like we like it backhome. But then my kids are ?Born in the USA? they were ?Born in the USA? would not be able to have it. So I ask for freshgreen chilies in the side and they happy accommodated. It was one of the BEST Chicken Tikka Masala I have had in a very longtime. And the chicken was white meat which it normally is and let me tell you it was perfectly cooked not at all on the dryside. Goat Curry, spicy, what a wonderful aroma, what delicious taste. wife enjoyed it in two sittings again like in ChickenTikka Masala, there was plenary of goat pieces to go with ample amount of Curry. The goat was tender I enjoyed it as well. Sotasty. Basil Chicken Curry, medium heat level, this was a different unique dish, I was wondering how it will taste, I got itbased on another reviewer. I want to thank that reviewer, that this was a wonderful dish. One of my children does not eatspicy food, for that matter a lot of Indian food, this with medium heat they liked it, it became there favorite new dish. Iagree. It was Unique, tasty. I will always be partial to Chicken Tikka Masala and Palak Paneer and Saag (mustardgreens). Palak Paneer, spicy, I liked that they did not purée the Palak. You could tell the leaves were there. But theinteresting part is this is the first restaurant that made tadka like we do hat home. You could tell the spices and herbs thatwere comming into your mouth as you took a bight. Saying that I enjoyed every bight of Palak Paneer while closing my eyes so Ican Read more

The restaurant gives off the vibes of homemade cooking. The flavors are very authentic!Highly recommended! This restaurant doesn't seem to use artificial red coloring. I also feel that it's not tailored for justAmericans but also Indians. I lived in India for 2 years so I know what authentic Indian food tastes like.
