I have enjoyed meals here in the past but the last couple of visits have not been good, mainly due to the service. The training... of the waiters, who seem mostly clueless about the menu and whether or not the kitchen is out of certain dishes (arguably thesingle most important job of a waiter), is uneven at best. The management does not seem to be on the ball. When you are payingsuch steep prices for a meal, you should expect the very best of everything: atmosphere, food and service. It's still a prettyrestaurant, but the service is not acceptable, and the food, in my opinion, is way overpriced for this market. Basically, itcharges New York City prices for New England-quality Italian food. I won't be paying La Masseria a return visit. Read more

I had my husbands birthday party at Le Messeria in East Greenwich RI The food service and atmosphere could have not been... better! The waitstaff was on point and the service was excellent! Although the food was excellent, the service was absolutely terrible. Our table kept getting ignored while the table right next... to us was being serviced with undivided attention. They were served food, their plates picked up, offered dessert and had issueswith their bill resolved while our food took over an hour and almost another hour for our plates to be picked up, not offereddessert or explanations of the dishes as the tables next to us were. I can understand when restaurants are overwhelmed, butplenty of attention and care was given to the other two tables next to us. I hate being in the position of wondering if being soignored has anything to do with being the only person of color in the restaurant. It made my anniversary experience memorablefor the wrong reason. Wife and I had dinner at bar food was good and good atmosphere. Check came which I paid, when i stood up to leave a woman... bartender asked us Would we like tequila before we leave I was standing my wife said yes thinking was complimentary which washow it sounded. So my wife and I visited for a date night, we had been here before and enjoyed the food. Our most recent visit was... questionable. Service was decent and friendly enough. The charcuterie board was probably one of the worst I've ever had.Nothing on it was explained, there was no jam or bread served with it. The meats were awful and there was only once cheeseoption with around 5 slices which accompanied a board full of mediocre meat. I ordered the fettuccine lobster, with freshlobster and was told the lobster is delivered daily, while I am not questioning the integrity of the server, the meat mostcertainly tasted frozen. Hard and chewy. My wife's meal, the chicken and the sausage were both visibly over cooked. Fresh food at decent prices. Ambiance inside is nice. They have an extensive wine list and a full bar if you want a cocktail.... Likely the most upscale Italian option on Main Street. Read more
