With the recommendation from our concierge, we recently chose to dine here on the eve of our special anniversary. We could not... have anticipated a more exquisite dining experience! The atmosphere, the menu and the service were perfection and we only wishthat the night could have gone on forever. My husband and I had dinner at l'etoile for our wedding anniversary and we're impressed by the restaurant's ambience, food, and... level of service. Food: - Braised short ribs ($22) were delicious but it was the maple-smoked cheddar polenta that temped us tolick the plate clean - Lamb chop ($52) was delicious, no gamey-ness at all. The accompanying spinach and roast tomato grape leaftartlet seemed random but was very tasty! - Lobster ($68) was delicious, as was the pasta. That said, this entree wasspendy. Ambience: Like many businesses in Edgartown, this restaurant is in a house, with seating on the front lawn onAdirondack chairs, inside in tastefully renovated rooms with mood lighting, or outside under a semi-permanent tent that stillhas tables dressed with white tablecloths and decorated as tastefully as the restaurant's indoor dining tables. Service: Thestaff were very friendly, attentive, well-trained, quick with the water refills, and not too stuffy or pompous. We felt verywelcome! Parking: Street parking only, which can be hard to come by in the area, even during the off season. Read more

This restaurant has outrageous prices for food that blatantly lacks basic technical skill. I ordered the lamb chops medium rare... and received them medium well. My boyfriend ordered the duck medium rare and it came out thoroughly well done. After waiting15+ minutes for our server to return I asked another staff member to send him our way when when possible. I decided to send myentree back and got the gnocchi starter as a replacement. I didn't think it could get worse but the gnocchi was completelyoverworked and tough. Quite literally the worst gnocchi I have ever had. I'll give credit where it's due as the sauces on theentrees were tasty but we left this restaurant in agreement that it was in the top three worst ones we've ever been to. Stillin disbelief at the audacity this place has for even sending this food out of the kitchen with the prices they have on theirmenu. We did not get what we paid for here and usually we're big proponents of that notion. Read more

This was a great experience. Good food and cocktails, also amazing service. Loved the Australian influence, especially the lamb... and the pavlova. Everything we ordered tasted fantastic, including the drinks. Definitely try the Startini, and if you likeBellinis drink the Syndeytini. We felt like the price was appropriate for the food/experience. And very reasonable for Martha'sVineyard. Also I loved the pea and asparagus soup. Yes good enough for its own paragraph. Read more

Favorite restaurant anywhere. Chef owner Michael has been doing it right for 40 years. Every dish is elevated. Do not miss the... lobster. Or the lamb. Drinks are excellent also. Great for a special occasion. The bar is a nice alternative for a drink andsomething more casual. Read more

I have stopped by here a couple of times. The first time we just had a couple glasses of wine outside on the lawn in the... adirondack chairs. It feels very homey and beautiful with the English cottage style garden surrounding you. The staff are allwonderful. We came the other day and we were just going to have some wine again while we waited on our table at anotherrestaurant. That restaurant didn't hold our table and we came back here to see if they could seat us even though it was so late. They were amazing and sat us with no issue. The food was spectacular. As always, the staff are friendly and professional. Iwish they stayed open all year. Read more

My Wife and I had an amazing dining experience at L'Etoile from the moment we arrived to good bye! We ate out in the front yard... which made all the difference. The lawn dining area / open tent is close enough to the street to see people go by but not tooclose for comfort. The garden area as you walk in was in peak bloom. It was a cool summer night with soft blues playing from abar close by. We had Oysters Two-Styles. I Never had an oyster with cream in the shell, very good and std vinegar type.Excellent. The Menemsha Lobster was prepared perfectly and so was the Rack of Lamb Chops. I would go back in a heartbeat butit took months to get a reservation. Cost for dinner and drinks for two was $213 + tip. A real night to remember. Read more
