Reviews for Dakari Soul Food in Edgewood, MD
I got two fried chicken dinners and a baked chicken dinner with collard greens, mashed potatoes and gravy, cabbage and macaroni... and cheese. I simply have one thing to say, DO NOT listen to those bad reviews. The mashed potatoes are creamy and have a lovelyflavor of garlic with a lovely gravy, the macaroni and cheese is everything, the collard greens are perfectly seasoned (and forthose who said it’s too salty, if you didn’t want it seasoned then you should’ve made it at home). This food was so goodeven my two year old didn’t hold back and ate as much as he could. Not to mention the cornbread, I would’ve bought a wholepan if I could’ve. If you want some southern food that tastes like that home cooked meal you looking for go here. Oh yeah lastbut not least the cabbage is not dry, I don’t know if that previous customer wanted their cabbage swimming in juice butthere’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. People just being picky because they make their soul food different. Well if youwanted your soul food your way don’t expect people to know your recipes and cook like you do. Everything is seasonedwonderfully, to how Dakari’s recipes are. That’s all, will definitely be coming back. Read more
Went to Edgewood, MD to try a restaurant based on an article that I read - and boy, we were not disappointed! The workers were... friendly, and the food came out pretty fast...and it was hot!!! You could see the steam coming from the platters! Everything wasseasoned well - I wish I'd gotten a pic of my sister's Salmon platter ????. We all enjoyed our food - oh, and get some of aMama's Jazzy Wings while you're at it! We will definitely be be returning to Dakari Soul Food (if it be GOD'S will)!!!???????????? Read more
EVERYTHING was done right! And I mean EVERYTHING! Down to the cornbread! I ordered the curry chicken, Mac and cheese and Greens!... My only complaint was that they were out of yams! This was my first time eating at Dakari. I ordered a shrimp cheesesteak sub with an order of peach cobbler. The sub was wet just... like a cheesesteak sub is should be! The bread was soft and the meat was seasoned well. Another pleasant surprise was theshrimp. They were not the little bitty salad shrimp. I haven’t tried the peach cobbler but I’m hoping it’s just as tastyas my sub. Read more
WOW!!! What a truly amazing experience! From the moment we walked in the door to the time we left, my expectations were exceed.... Walking in the door we were welcomed like family. The menu is like a dream come true and I got the shrimp cheese steak. Theeveryone on the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. My family and I ate in. Warm corn bread was brought to our tableand is undescribable with words. The smothered pork chops are devine. Dakari has wonderful food and the people put the soul! Read more
I ordered the smothered turkey wings I waited 20 minutes. for rice and gravy green beans, potato salad I didn't like any of it... and it wasn't worth the $20 it was cold dried out potato salad was old ,green beans the best thing really the turkey wings dried out the gravy was old and rice was cold clumpy. FANTASTIC food!! Literally everything we tried was full of flavor and expertly prepared. Definitely an instant favorite! We got... the crab cake and curry chicken dinners with the grilled broccoli, cabbage, and the BEST mac and cheese we've ever had! Also gotthe Momma Jazzy wings and they are a killer blend of sweet and spice. Everyone was so friendly even though they were swampedwith so many orders (always a good sign). Read more
Not sure what's up with the negative reviews. Maybe things are better now. I placed my order online and got a receipt for a... different location but when I called, the gentleman on the phone was friendly and helpful. It will say Hanover but it's for theEdgewood location. Regarding the food, everything was absolutely delicious and steaming hot. The Buffalo wings were cookedperfectly and had a good flavor. Excellent value as well but they could be spicier. 9/10. The oxtails were amazing but one ofthem was just the bone. Still a good value I think. 9/10. The rice and peas were great also. The mac and cheese was easily someof the best I've ever eaten, as were the collards. 10/10 for both sides. The cornbread square was delicious but I wish the piecewas a little bigger. Overall everything really hit the spot and was seasoned perfectly. I will definitely be back soon to trymore. Read more
