My mom and I are regulars at El Mono. They are a solid genuine Peruvian restaurant with awesome welcoming staff. Our favorite... go-to meal is lomo saltado or ají de gallina. Recently, we ordered Arroz Tapado (ground beef with raisins & olives)! We alwaysorder cancha, yuca frita, helado lúcuma and my cocktail pisco sour! Yum! I’m already thinking of my next meal: bistek a lopobre & chupe de camarones. I’m grateful they expanded to a new location and continue to thrive in El Cerrito. I wish themcontinued success! My favorite Peruvian restaurant!! If I could, I’d probably have lunch here everyday. El Mono is just one of those places that... you crave to eat often. Everything I have tried from the menu has been absolutely delicious and they have a great variety ofchoices. The food is freshly made so full of flavor and the service is excellent. I’ve tried other Peruvian restaurants but ElMono has topped them all and set the bar very high, I just stopped searching. Have you ever found yourself thinking about a meal you'd had days after the fact? Something that you had thought was good but... not earth shattering at the time, but the more you thought about it, the more you appreciated the little touches that made yourmeal special? El Mono was such a lovely surprise that I couldn't fully comprehend how good it was at the time, and the more I dothink about it, the more I loved what I had and want to go back for more. I stopped at El Mono on a whim because Of been drivingout of SFO and really needed something decent to eat and I was feeling a little jaded about typical dinner fare. I've eatenPeruvian before and it is typically different enough to be interesting, so I headed over to El Mono. I split half a chickenalong with a number of sides and tried both of the two aguas frescas that they had. The drinks were sweet without being cloying.They also paired incredibly well with every dish that I had, and each dish paired well together too. My fiancé and I just came to El Mono for a Sunday lunch, we absolutely loved everything. Everything was fresh and prepared... beautifully, the flavors will really blow you away. Things were a bit pricey, but felt as though the quality of the food wasthere so. I will definitely be back, perhaps on a weekday to take advantage of the prices of the lunch specials. Read more

Do not waste you hard earn money on this place …. Order a limo saltado … had literally 5 pieces of meat it look more like a... saltado de papa … Also tried the ceviche mixto horrible … bill came out to $50 and change ..I believe you should get whatyou paying for … service was good… Read more
