You guys need to update your business hours! It says you close @7:00 pm so we drove 45 min to try your tortas ahogadas ( got... here @5:40pm) only so the cashier waves her hands in the air signing that they are closed! What a waste of time and gas! Read more

Been there tried it. I tried the torta as well as the tacos de canasta when they bearly opened. Food seemed really dull. It was... a one time try def. would. It try again. The place itself had a strong chemical-animal like which kind of killed my appetite.Parking is very limited since the plaza is very small. You order at register. Read more

Oh my goodness! This place is no joke. Barbacoa tacos are amazing! The tacos dorados and the price are easily the best In... Southern California. Carnitas torta ahogada is that bite of food that brings you back to the restaurants and experience ofGuadalajara. This place is great, the people are awesome and the service is fantastic! Read more

MÉXICO ???????? (Jalisco) Eat the World LA review: In a fun building that has seen two burger joints close in the past ten... years, Tortas Ahogadas El Rey has decided to expand to their third location. After two locations in Southeast Los Angeles,Lynwood and Huntington Park, this El Monte branch will seek a different customer base in the San Gabriel Valley. Inside, thefurniture immediately transports you back to Guadalajara. The dining room may still have the bones of a burger joint, but withinthat it feels 100% Tapatío. The tables and chairs are exactly like those in the good tortas ahogadas restaurants we dined at,comfortable and high-backed, ready for a long stint eating and drinking into the night like at personal favoriteAhogadalajara. Extremely happy to have so many folks from Jalisco in and around Los Angeles, making the foods from one of themost delicious of Mexican states, on this night we came for the carne en su jugo ($9.99), another Tapatío specialty veryspecific to Guadalajara. The always praised tortas ahogadas are obviously worth an order as well if it is your first time. Read more
